Hello, I have a female Muscovy who hid a nest and I found it today because I heard chirping. She had one egg that was cracked open and the duckling was next to it she has not been in the area for days and when I tried to. Ring her to the nest to assist the baby she was very violent toward it...
Hello. I have three female ducks and along the way two males were an abandoned as babies so I took them in. Long story short my female ducks and hens get along great but the boys cause chaos and are too aggressive with the females. I don’t want to get more females so as of now they have a...
I brought home two Muscovy ladies and one crested female. I was told I would have to train them to go in the duck house at night. Yesterday I had to guide them in and it was not bad at all……today I went out and to my shock the Muscovy ducks put themselves to bed 😂 the crested duck was still...
Hello, I am new to keeping ducks. I have two male Rouen ducks about 16 weeks old and currently live with my four female chickens. I didn’t know till now that they are male since I has them as tiny ducklings and they were abandoned in a box at tractor supply. They share a huge coop with my female...
Hello,
I have a set of two female turkeys each with babies. They are not so much small but I would say they are young but old enough to eat on their own and be silly. Sadly one of the female mothers was hit by a car today. These turkeys come here everyday and I noticed o e female with more...
I have had my sweet peas for a year now. Last spring they had the start of those nasty red mites but I quickly made sure to take care of that….now I noticed my one lady was molting but I felt like it’s too early in summer to molt…I checked her and I believe she has feather lice or mites. I had...
Hello,
Any advice on how to move four ladies to our new place? Anything that will make it less stressful. New house is about an hour away and I want to make sure i transport them safely and I definitely don’t want to stress them out.
So far what I have read on here is making me so anxious. What can we do to prevent or help. Someone said they literally come and kill your flock…that makes me incredibly sad and scared.
Long story short…she had some wet poop on her butt. It had dried when I got to it the next day to remove it and clean it. I picked her up and she dislikes being touched …I held her and cleaned off the dry poop. Her vent looked fine…she sometimes gets poop on her fluffy behind. I noticed after I...
I am not sure if this is the place to post this but as of late I have been reading about the fungal infection growth in the U.S. and if I should be worried about coop dirt or my chickens getting sick? I like to move or dig dirt around for them to pick worms and maybe I’m nervous post Covid but...
Hello everyone,
I was looking up toxic plants and flowers to not plant this year in spring…I was shocked to find elephant ear plants as toxic since I have had them around the whole yard and my chickens never got into them. Any advice would be appreciated on if I should remove them and de root...
Hello,
It’s snowing outside and my ladies seem to want to be out in the snow. At what point is it too dangerous for them to be out and about in the snow? It’s 27 out.
I am used to battling hawks but this morning we were visited by two eagles. This is a new level of fear for me…my ladies are definitely not coming out of the run for a few days. Has anyone had to deal with eagles 🦅 stalking your flock?
Hi everyone
We had tons of rain and I have been battling wet ground in my chicken run. I have a huge chicken run covered yet the ground and bedding is wet since the ground was so saturated in came up from below. My girls coop is inside the run and that’s nice and dry since it’s off the ground...
I have my 4 ladies in a 10 x 20 chicken run in bad weather or rain. The coop they sleep in is inside this run. They usually have an acre to roam that’s covered in poultry netting. Im in south New Jersey and it’s cold rain/snow and I want to make sure this air ventilation at the top of the...
I am not sure what breed my black chicken might be or my black and white one. I rescued them from a hoarding situation and realized I never asked or knew what breed they might be. I know my buff Orpington lol she is so sweet!! Any input would be great!
Hello!
I always wondered if you sprinkle pest control ( I have been using first Saturday lime ) and it rains a few days later…does it cancel out the pest control ?
Hello!
How often should I power the coop and run for preventative measures. I use this product and have used to this past summer to rid my coop of mites and it did a great job. I just didn’t know how often to add on roost bars and coop.
