So I am new to chickens.. My chickens will soon start laying in next couple of weeks. These are some of the shortest daylight days. How will this effect their first production of eggs? Will it change later? Will this screw them up? Should I change anything or let nature take its course ?
This chickens waddles and comb are very red compared to the other sapphire gem we bought. Which has me thinking maybe it’s a cockerel. Would have hatched last week of May. I am posting pic as a chick and today
My cat is inside/outside. Loves our first time flock. He has never met anyone or thing he doesn’t like. He would stay and roost with them if I let him. He finds them fascinating.
New chicken mama. 6 pullets. 1 Rhode Island Red, 2 Sapphire Gems, 2 Prairie Bluebells and 1 Americana. They very in estimated ages of about 7-10 week range. I am in Southeastern Ohio.
Purchased at Rural King was told my bird was a prairie bluebell. Unsure if age at time of purchase. I am guessing she/he is about 9 weeks old. This is my very first flock. This bird is the only one I’m really concerned maybe male. What do you think? I can get a better pic if needed.
