One of my girls lobes seem to have become one and her back end changed too. I know this happened last year just not this early. How long after this change do eggs come?
I bought some goslings off of craigslist last week. They were called buff geese. Both parents were solid buff. 4 of them are solid buff goslings. One looks like a Pomeranian. Interesting. My gander fell in love immediately with them. One of the geese took about a day. The other goose it...
Less than 6 months till birds are separated for breeding! I am hoping for a better year with goslings next year! I know I am DONE with chicks/ ducklings for now!
I have had chickens for several years. I then expanded the flock to ducks and geese. I had to limit their feed to prevent them from becoming too heavy and to increase their egg production. Is there anything like this I would need to do for heritage breed turkeys? Metzer's Farm Blog has a...
I want to have a heritage breed turkey. While I love the different colors I think I will go with white. I have read for quite a bit of time about the White Holland and Midget White.
I have read contradictory information about the Midget whites. I have read that at 20 weeks they are 13...
My birds all staying in again. Next week they definitely won't go out. Cold air and snow and wind are rough. Hope everyone's birds are fairing well in this weather. Northern Indiana is not even getting the worst of it.
Boris is a character. He seems to look at Mary and Martha in a little different way these days. He is more protective of them like he was Natasha last year. I loved how much more laid back he was in July and August. He still is fine with me but now hisses a lot more at others. Gotta love them!
I am now in my second year with geese and still loving them. It seems that so many people get them but by the time they have them for a year they get rid of them. Boris my gander is 1 and a half. Mary and Martha are 5 moths old. Even though they have a huge pasture, Boris paces the fence...
Anyone ever done this?
I am planning to move my ducks and chickens to a different building on the property. This will allow them a bigger coop and an acre pasture.
If you have done this did the ducks stop laying until next spring?
Or did they stop for a time and then start back up...
I have six hens and 4 pullets. Yesterday I got a pulley egg and today I got another one. They are different pullets laying. Even after years with chickens and many pullets that have started laying, it is still exciting!
I am looking at buying a chocolate drake a white duck and a chocolate and white duck? I was wondering if they would be those 3 colors in the offspring?
If I buy them I will post pics of course!
