Will a cuckoo maran Roo x Blue wheaton EE hen = sex link?

My EE hen is hatching as we speak, I have only one Roo (cuckoo maran) and the hen is my only olive egg layer so there is no mistaking who is who. So far she has hatched 4 chicks that are black with white dots on their heads just like every stinking black sex link I have ever seen lol. One has a...

hens eating their eggs. what to do?

This started a few months ago. The original criminal was an older Turken. I tried to put golf balls in the nest. Next I emptied eggs and filled them with mustard. This worked for about a week. The last step was to isolate those I thought were doing the crime, the older turken hen and a young EE...

Anyone try one of the small Brinsea bators

I am pretty small scale but enjoy hatching ever-so-often. I had a Styrofoam hova bator with all the bells and whistles but found it hard to control the temp and would like something a little less hands on. I was checking out the mypetchicken site (love that site) and came across the small...

fool proof way to keep predators at bay.

I just keep catching opossum after opossum with the occasional raccoon sprinkled in for good measure in the live trap. I know my self well enough to know I will one day again forget to close the small chicken door which leads from the coop to the run and lose my birds again....so I moved my 5...

    Green bean plant question

    have a floor idea

I have a dirt floor coop. I am about to build a new coop and here is my concept: The back floor board panel is going to be hinged so that I can sweep "the stuff" out the back and off to the compost. Its a little extra work when building but I feel it will make things easier. Always sounds good...

looking to purchase chickens in Northern Oklahoma

I am looking to buy some hens. I am not really picky but they will get a great home. I would love some turnkens, Americaunas, SLW, RIR, Marans, pretty much anything that lays eggs. I have a RIR roo and a black sex linked hen at home that need some pals. I love mutts as well.
