Earlier this spring I bought 15 chicks (different breeds) at my local TSC. Now they are getting older and it appears I might have 3 or 4 Roo's in the mix. If I'm raising them only for the eggs should I seperate the roo's from the hen's?
My coop (converted shed) has a loose gravel/dirt floor. Will that work ok? also, what is the "deep litter method" ? and what is best to use as litter? Thanks.
I would love to see some pictures of the inside of anyone's coop showing the location and type of nesting boxes and roosting poles. I need some good ideas for mine. My coop is 12' X 12'. (a converted shead) Thank You.
here's another stupid question from someone new to chicken raising. I'm preparing to build my nesting boxes. how high off of the floor and do the chickens need ramps to walk up to the nests or do they fly up? ( I hear you laughing)
