    egg laying and stress

    I'm culling a mean rooster next week and need to know how much stress this will put on my hens. I will have to take him of the roost because he cannot be touched without a fight, besides my hens need a break from this monster.

    I will be culling a real mean rooster next week. How much stress will this cause my hens? I will have to take him of the roost as I thought that would keep the stress down. Will they continue to lay as normal? I know that I only need him to fertilize eggs, but will his disappearance shock them?

    lesson learned about egg pecking

    Learned a good lesson this week. Checking the laying boxes for the past couple of weeks in the new hen house and have found pecking holes in several eggs each day. Tried different things to stop it but nothing worked. While looking at these holes It dawned on me that these where not pecking...
