I posted here before but the solution didnt work. One of my ameraucana chicks has this weird eye problem ever since it was born. Only one eye is leaky and the feathers around it arent growing properly. I was told to try duramycin-10, however it didnt help at all. The chick seems fine, very...
This chick is now 4 weeks old. He has had an eye issue since birth. Even the feathers around his eye are weird. I tried duramycin-10. Didn't really do anything. The chick seems perfectly fine. He's in very close proximity with other chicks and none of them have this issue. Could it be a...
One of my chicks has a problem with one of its eyes. It seems really watery or like there is pus in it. I cant really tell. The feathers around the eye are wet and will not fluff up. Im assuming its from the leaky eye. The other chicks he is with dont have any problems. Any suggestions...
It looks like one of my chicks has a little pus in its eye. The fluff around his eye still hasn't dried since birth. He's two weeks old today. Something seems to be wrong with it but the chick doesnt act any different than the others. Anybody have any suggestions? I tried warm compresses today...
So recently i went on vacation and let my parents take care of my chickens. Well the coop door was left open one day and a family of raccoons decided to kill most of my chickens so i need to start over.
I want wheaten/blue wheaten/splash purebred ameraucanas, but i don't know who to buy them...
So i noticed a bald spot on one of my hens. Didn't really think anything of it. My rooster mates with her all the time so i just figured it was a little feather loss. But today i decided to check anyway just to make sure and i almost died. I have never had a rooster do this before so i don't...
Is there anything chickens shouldn't eat? I usually just throw them vegetable scraps and stuff like that but is there anything that could actually hurt them?
So it just so happens i am watching Monsters Inside Me right now and I'm getting kinda paranoid. Is there anything i could buy to tests my eggs for parasites or bacteria like Salmonella?
Simple question...How should i kill my bird and how should i pluck the feathers. I gained lots of knowledge off google but i just wanted to see if you guys had any other tips. I'm just starting with one bird so i don't overwhelm myself but any tips or shortcuts you guys can share would be...
One of my Easter eggers was born with a crooked toe. The one outer toe on each foot is turned 90 degrees inward. It walks fine and it doesn't seem to bother the chicken. Its about a month old now. Should I try to fix it somehow or just let it go?
Okay so i was told to buy a 250 watt red heat lamp bulb for my chicks. How do people use this lamp? The temperature got to 200 degrees in 5 minutes. Do you put them on a dimmer switch?
So this will be my first hatch in a couple days. The eggs are wiggling and chirping so just to be on the safe side, what do i need when they hatch. I know i need a brooder and everything, but what do i need medication wise? Medicated starter feed? Vitamins in the water? What kind? Anything else...
So i have become obsessed with chickens and this site does not help at all. I want to buy some baby chicks online. I was thinking about Buff Orpingtons. Does anyone else have any suggestions on a breed besides the standard RIR and NHR? These chickens will be raised in confinement in my backyard...
