Hello all! I have a Muscovie Hen here with 12 little hatchlings! My Drake looks like his chest is sticking out a little further, proud daddy! My question is, how do they winter in colder climates? Are they as hardy as my Large Lavernder Orps? And what do they prefer to bed on? Shavings? Straw...
Beautiful Nate! I hope to try again next spring by reordering. Could you please contact me regarding my order this past spring?? I'd really like to get this settled or worked out a.s.a.p. A partial refund would work for eggs not sent. Hope all is well!
Thanks,
ChickensInMyYard
Oh! If its intestine then that's not good. If its just a little bit of clear tissue leave him alone but keep him warm! If he starts to look weak then yes I would probably cull him.
Aww I know how you feel,

Ok I've seen this before and I would probably carefully cut it off and apply neosporin. Like the last person said. If its mostly air and not a lot of yolk he probably got enough nutrients. He looks quite allert so just please keep him warm and that's about all you can do. Keep us posted!!! Good...
True! I've had some nasty roosters. Most of the orps though are really sweet. I havent had the cochins yet but planning on it here shortly. Mine are the large Orps. My big Splash boy is the sweetest one of all! I put new chicks with him and he takes care of them all like a mother hen. Too funny...
OMG! That's terrible! I have a fox living in a log pile not too far from here. My chickens are quite safe where they are but I never thought about my two little dogs! My big guard dog takes care of all the critters here (as well as the nieghbors cattle) but he's been napping in the sunshine alot...
Ok I'm a little worried. Do I fill one of the reservoirs when I begin operating the Brinsea 20 as well as the humidity pump? I haven't added water. My only source of water is coming from the pump and its staying right where it should be for humidity.
Hello all! I'm setting up my Octagon 20 Advance EX Upgrade Incubator. It has the humidity pump which is working well. My first question is, has anyone used the Periodic Incubation Cooling? It says that they recommend daily cooling periods from day 7 through to 2 days before hatch day. I have the...
I have two frizzle chicks here and they're 4 weeks old. Thet were doing fine up until three days ago. I noticed that one of them had its eye closed like he was sleeping. I wasn't to worried until yesterday when I noticed the other chick had both eyes shut. They look sore, so I've removed them...
Mine definitely slow down in fall and winter. They need 13 hours of light a day to stay fertile. I did however hatch all last winter because I had a timer in my coop for my lights. How's the weather down there today? Up here in Canada we have a Spring Snow Storm on its way.
Yuck!
Leave them alone, you won't see rooling until day 21 usually. And make sure your Day 1 is 24 hours after you started incubating. You might have a couple of days yet,
And yes you might see movement up to a week before hatch day. But you shoyldnt be watching for that right now. Lock up time! No...
