Laxative? I've never heard of that. Wonder what would cause that reaction in their bodies. I have heard of birds exploding if you give them bicarbonate of soda, but I don't know if that's actually true; I've never tried it and would never want to, but one of my school teachers admitted...
That's just too adorable!!! Hope papa quail stops being so defensive soon, so you can get some more really good pics. He did a good job to get seven of them to hatch!! How many eggs were there? Good luck with your new baby quail!
It would be really cool if someone could do one of these colour threads for bobwhites Maybe several bob breeders could collaborate their photos and pool their knowledge? I found out a lot about Coturnix and Buttons colours, but bobwhites I am not really familiar with. Do other species such as...

If you boil the eggs, then leave them in vinegar for about 4 hours (I think) then the shells are supposed to dissolve. This is what I've heard some...
Tam'ra of Rainbow Vortex - that looks like a very interesting recipe. I have never had quiche before, but I think that's something I'll definitely have to try!!
You can also make scotch eggs using quail eggs (either mini ones, or use multiple eggs for larger ones), I think there's is a recipe...

Lol Do you look for the same thing you look for in larger species? With the male having a more swollen/protruding vent?
They don't have the 'foam gland' like coturnix, you have to look at the shape of the vent opening.
What does that look like for male and female then?
