At this time no more than sitting on on several meetings and what is printed at this time is all that was discussed...
Amen to the nasty auctions and swaps- I even feel dirty after typing it <shudder> LOL
Eeeek! I was on the phone with a local industry farm hatcher friend and he asked about private while I was typing and thus I typed it lol sorry and thanks
We've been in Raleigh all week awaiting the decision and they've made it- NO public sales of chickens, no poultry shows from August 15, 2015 - January 15, 2016...

POULTRY TIMES...
Not sure if this is the right place or not- we've been in Raleigh all week awaiting the decision and they've made it-

Thanks for all of the responses guys it is very much appreciated :)
K14got- Thank you for your quick response, sorry I was slack in responding but I've been out trying to catch up on the other livestock and scrounge together another brooder pen for the chicks- It's ALWAYS something lol I had...
Ok we have a genetics question... hate this lol
I purchased a trio of silver gray dorkings from a semi-local farm about 7.5 weeks ago. They have decent type etc and are still in the quarantine tractor due to them "fitting" that space well and also, due to what I've been hatching from them-...
Thank you for the clarification on the "Shizzle", Country- I own PLENTY of sizzles but no "shizzles" sooo lol (their necks bother me being bare.. must be some sort of latent phobia )
"Frigirl" hmm not bad .. kinda like ladybug for both genders (another reason showgirls bother me lol)
I have always used the terms as such... others may define them differently-
Sizzle- barbed (hard) feathered in either smooth or curly
Frilkie- non-barbed (soft) feathered curly
Shizzle- non-barbed (soft) showgirl curly
They both have tails that are coming in from what I can see in the photos- If they were "rumpless" their tail areas would be a lot more rounded with no signs of tail feathers coming in as yours have
In both photos I see what looks to be a pullet on the right and a cockerel on the left
Line breeding with careful selection IS bringing the Am Chin back- If I'm not mistaking, someone on here, YHF, I think, posted about creating "families" of the breed and then crossing the offspring of those families (which actually extends genetic diversity a bit), keeping a critical eye on...
99% of the Dorkings I eat are between 6 and 10 months, so I know where they are (type, etc.) before they are harvested... not really what I consider slaughtering rare breeds in their youth... I know my lines ...
Ok let me try it this way-
What do you do with the rare breed birds that...
I've always understood, from a livestock conservancy point of view, that the best way to preserve a rare breed of livestock or poultry is to breed and use them as they were intended. To name two breeds, as I do have several more, I have raised American Chinchilla rabbits for over a decade...
thank you for the assessment- I feel much the same as per SOP. BOTH his saddle and hackles are longer and much fuller than I would personally like as they throw off his actual body lines. You'd think after 6 years I'd have that fixed by now, huh- lol
Anyway, out of 10, I've selected these 3...
Congrats on the hatch At least you can pull those males early! I'm just getting started with my first crossing of Cuckoo Marans over Lav Am so I have a WAYS to go lol
