    What time of day do the lay?

    It's so funny you saying that about one of your hens squatting for a scratch - my Rhode Rock Nigella does that! She laid for the first time at 21 weeks on Tuesday, between 1 and 5 in the afternoon, then lay again at some point between 9 pm last night and 8 this morning. Random!

    Woot! First Egg!

    I had my first two eggs this week from Nigella, my Rhode Rock! They were both quite small, about 1.5 inches tall, bu bright yellow and lovely and she's only 21 weeks. Now waiting for my to Silver Nicks, Delia and Martha to start too!

    Thanks both. Think Rhode Rocks are a cross between RIR and Black Rock? I only have one of this breed which makes it difficult to compare - tail also looks longer than my others but with them being a different breed it reall might not mean much! Guess I hav to wait a fe more weeks?

    Hi all. Can anyone help me with a query on my nearly 6-week old Rhode Rock? She has a small, light pink/cream comb, but has started this week to develop the beginnings of a red wattle. At this age, does that mean Nigella might be a Nigel instead?!?!
