    Bay Area BYCers!

Hello all! Gosh, it's been a while. Seems I only come on when I have issues and questions. Well, looks like we will be losing one of our two hens to egg yolk peritonitis. I don't know how soon, but I'm already panicking about putting her down ourselves. She's only 1.5 years old but hasn't...

    Bay Area BYCers!

I agree - that is absurdly expensive...Sigh. I did read about the benefits of soy-free feed in Storey's. Do you have a brand you would recommend?

    Bay Area BYCers!

Thanks Jeremy. I try to eat organic as much as possible so, while I haven't decided for certain whether I'll persue feeding the hens organic (since they get so many organic kitchen scraps and garden treats), I like to keep my options open. Do you reccomend against it?

    Bay Area BYCers!

Hey y'all! Does anyone know of anywhere in the bay area, preferably in the east bay, that sells organic layer developer and/or layer feed?

    Bay Area BYCers!

Thanks guys. It's nice to know I can count on the BYC community, especially as a chicken newbie. I booked that vet for tonight - I know the price is crazy but I just need it to be over, especially after my trauma yesterday of trying to do it on our own (had him in the cone and just started...

    Bay Area BYCers!

Hi B.A. BYC...I have a sad and difficult problem I've been very much M.I.A since I joined and I have a good reason: all is NOT well in Chickenland. My earlier doubts about Eggberta (my "95% surely a hen" sexed Brahma) being an Eggbert turned out to be, beyond a doubt, true. Moreover, he is...

    Bay Area BYCers!

Oh my gosh, Pet Rock, you don't know how much you've put my mind at ease!!! I was going to post this whole thing in the "What do I have/gender" forum, I even just finished up a photo session just now in the back yard with Eggberta, but I think I'll give it another week - folks there seem quick...

    Bay Area BYCers!

Hello! I was clued in about the Bay Area BYCers by Jeremy in my "New to BYC" post. I'm brand-spankin' new to chickens. 7 weeks ago I got my three chicks, Henrietta, Eggberta, and Nestlé (H.E.N!) from a local feed store. Henrietta is a PBR, Eggberta is a light brahma and I'm scared that she's...

Hello from the bay area (via Illinois)! I'm really missing the Midwestern autumn colors right about now! And cheese curds, to think I was ever only an hour's drive from Wisconsin cheese curds

    Newbie here

Howdy from the bay area! It's a wise choice to do research before the chickens come - after they come it's pandemonium!

    Bay Area first-timer!

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! Golly, I have to meet my posting quota so I can post about photos of our Light Brahma who, I fear, is a cockrel. It's been smooth sailing up til now but oh boy, this will be a doozie! As for the home search, we're looking into rehabbing a dilapidated...
