Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Hello everyone! I got redirected and will repost here. I'm looking for some white call duck breeders. We went to the Texas Bluebonnet Classic a few weeks ago and saw several really nice birds there, but couldn't find a soul who could point us to a breeder or exhibitor for any of them. Maybe...

Where to find White Call Ducks in Texas

We went to the Texas Bluebonnet Classic a few weeks ago and saw several really nice birds there, but couldn't find a soul who could point us to a breeder or exhibitor for any of them. Maybe it was bad timing, who knows - it would be nice if exhibitors could leave business cards in front of...

    Brahma or???

LOL! Thanks for posting my pic Kayella! You beat me to it. You guys are right - it does look like a Brahma roo - he doesn't crow yet - all of his other siblings have been crowing for about a month. This bird is larger and heavier than my 1.5 year old Speckled Sussex roo. Going to be a big boy.

Best age to process fryer leghorns - frying pan special

I will answer my own post (LOL) since no one seems to have done this before with the frying pan special from McMurray Hatchery. Since a lot of folks use this website for educational purposes, maybe this will help someone else later on down the road. I processed the birds this past weekend at...

Best age to process fryer leghorns - frying pan special

I bought the 'Frying Pan Special' with my last order of chicks from McMurray which consist of male white leghorns. Leghorns are smaller and more lean so they recommended just raising them with the pullets I bought and then process them later. Was curious to know when others processed their...

Looking for Poultry Processor in Central TX - College Station/Bryan???

Does anyone know of someone who will process poultry in Central TX? Preferably College Station/Bryan area or close to. I haven't been able to find anyone which is a shame, b/c there seems to be a growing need for this service in my area. I can do one or two birds without my arthritis flaring...

    Showing Eggs at Poultry Shows

Does anyone here show eggs at the poultry shows? How do you get into it? Do you have or know of any article/publication/wise old friend who has tips on showing eggs? I was lurking on another forum and the folks were just having a blast preparing and collecting certain eggs for an upcoming...

    Hamburg thread!

Love the pics - I ordered some SSH from McMurray when I placed my order for fryers to be delivered later in February...just for fun, because I love their polka-dotted look. They will be a nice addition to my already eclectic flock of chickens.

    Post your parrot pics!

Here are my two: Charlie is a Rose Breasted Gala Cockatoo - he was given to me (he's was a plucker long before he was given to me and probably always will be but we still love him) and is 10 this year.... and this is Fuego - he is a Sun Conure - he attached himself to me at the pet...

Parrot sitting - have some questions

Parrots need to be warmer than the 60's - I keep mine at a temp of 72 (where I like it ) and they have heated perches because even that isn't warm enough. Mine like it at a minimum of 76! If she gets chilled, she will get ill. If they are too cold, they won't eat or drink either. Keep her...

Post pics of stock from Ideal Poultry please !!

I ordered a Cubalaya male and got something that has yet to be decided (altho he was as mean as the devil and he didn't make it to his first birthday)- some people here and others who live near me say he's a cross between all the above (aseel, malay, cubalaya) which could be quite possible since...

mystery chicken in my group NOW GROWN UP

A few months ago I posted a pic of a bird of the breeding I had no clue, only that it wasn't the Cubalaya male i ordered. Here is the pic of the bird in question back then: now about 6 months or more has passed and he's filled out.....here he is now...... So we are still guessing...

    Grass for geese questions

Something else I find interesting - I wonder if anyone else has geese that do this? My birds have a baby pool that I will dump and refresh every few days and I always find the strangest foreign objects in their pool. Pieces of metal, sticks, rocks, all kinds of things. So one day I watched...

    Grass for geese questions

Mine wander the garden all day and go to their pen at night - all I have to do is go out there and shut and lock the door (I use a snap type lock to hold the door latch closed - we have very creative racoons here). My geese used to live in a fenced area with trees that was about 80 x 60 feet...

    Showing Horses

I have a reg. Missouri Foxtrotter that my pre-teen won grand reserve champ with at a local 4H show here once, but that's all she cared to do - she thinks the show lifestyle takes too much work. LOL! I dabbled in Western Pleasure and Showmanship for a couple of years myself, and at that point...

    Grass for geese questions

You guys are so lucky! I raised a pair of brown Chinese to live in my garden and help with the grass that tends to pop up and what do they do? Nothing! They prefer to wait for their evening pellet ration and won't pick grass at all on their own. And their pellet ration is just a handful...

Where is hardward cloth less expensive?

I went through the same thing! We searched all over the internet and some of the places posted above and found that after adding shipping, it only added up to be about $20 more TOTAL (after adding up all of the rolls we bought) more than what it would have been to have it shipped. We decided...
