I love it. I may have to "copy" your plans when we build our new one.

    My Cornish X experiment

I feed medicated chick starter with Amprolium in it for the first 10 days then they get poultry feed for the rest of their growing time. Unless you actually have had a case of coccidiosis or you feed the wild birds near your coops I don't really see a reason to feed it the entire time.

Mine do not. I can't answer for others. My feed has Amprolium it. I haven't ever had a case of coccidiosis (knock on wood). This method has worked for me thus far. If others have different ways of raising theirs I would love to hear them.

    My Cornish X experiment

Their only water source is in their pens which encourages them to return to their pens but if they decide they don't want to come back into the hoop coops at night I use the dogs to move them. Generally though they behave like chickens and seek the safety of their roosts (very very low ones) at...

    My Cornish X experiment

My chicks were 3 weeks and 3 days when I took that photo. Their butts are bare because they haven't yet feathered and most likely wont before they go to butcher. They are right on schedule for growth, I'm not sure why you would think they were "too big" for their age. Perhaps it is just the...

    My Cornish X experiment

My 3 week old meaties. I have raised these now for 6 years and have no complaints about the breed. They serve the purpose they were created for. Excellent feed to growth conversion and ready for processing in a very short amount of time.

Thank you Har. I really appreciate the compliment. I'm still learning and trying very hard not to mess them up. She is from my second hatch from my original birds I bought from Mr. Braden.

Your coop is beautiful. Be cautious of the metal roosts they can be hard on their feet. 2x4's with the edges rounded off are a better choice.

Walt you are my hero! I really appreciate the help. I thought I had read a post where you had requested some from another user but can't remember which forum or who the other user was. Franciscreek comes to mind but I honestly haven't had time to read through all the posts. I know he has them...
