31 weeks old and still no egg

Woo hoo, finally! My gold laced bantam cochin pullets just started laying this weekend at 32 weeks old. I think that at least 3 of the 4 of them are laying. Hopefully soon the d'Uccle pullets will be laying as well. They are 4 weeks younger than the Cochins.

    D'uccle Thread

This is Sugar our sweet little rooster. Almost 9 months old and no crowing so far, fingers crossed. I would love some feedback on him, I am thinking he has a bit to much white on his head and his foot feathering could be better. What do you think?

31 weeks old and still no egg

Natstk, I am just down the road from you in Ridgefield and we are also still waiting for our girls to lay. They are 29, 28 and 24 weeks old. So far the 24 wk old d'Uccles look the closest to starting. We have had so little light with these short days and terrible rainy weather. :-(

Which breed is the quietest chick for laying and general day time living.

My silkies have always been very quiet and mellow. They can be a bit ditzy but I highly recommend them. Very entertaining.

    D'uccle Thread

I had a d'Uccle pullet who was born like that. She ended up being my favorite little hen and got along just fine. Personality plus!!! I kept her separate at first to get an idea of her limitations but fairly quickly introduced her to the flock. She got along just fine. I even had my vet examine...

The bantam Cochin bug bit and boy am I in love! I picked up 6 at the feed store on a whim and was so impressed with how unbelievably sweet they are that I ordered more. Now I am up to my eyeballs in cute Cochins. So far the buff cockerel and the gold laced are my favorites. I have some extras...

Hi All, Due to space restrictions and flock dynamics I need to stick with bantam breeds. I was wondering what you have found to be the best producing, most flavorful, bantam, heritage meat bird to be? Thanks!!!
