Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund - helps farmers protect their rights. Perhaps they can help point you in the right direction http://www.farmtoconsumer.org/
I read about them in this article from Mother Earth News...
This is my Red Dorking Roo, Dexter, (fan of the show) Great guy!
This fella is Brahma Boy, I know...not very original. He's young but turning out to be a good rooster.
LOL!
Welcome from a fellow Michigander (SE as well)! I have to say I am quite partial to my sweet EE also.
Good luck with your girls. BTW, my first coop was made from a freebie shipping container from Craigs Lis toot, but chicken math soon happened and we had to move the girls to bigger...
Have you tried looking for a Onagadori Society/Association that maybe can direct you to breeders? A google search reveals a few websites for fanciers which may point you in the right directions. Good luck!
Could they be getting rowdy in the coop and knocking the feeder around spilling the feed? I had some issues with water being spilled and realized it was a result of my mature roo chasing the new cockerel around the coop. Relocating the waterer helped.
I planted a variety of cold hardy greens in the garden that I will cover with hoops and row cover fabric and green house plastic as it gets colder to ensure fresh greens to harvest for the girls (and me).
