    My wife has started selling eggs. We have 22 hens, all approx. 7 months old. We are getting 15-20 eggs daily. My wife said she would get $5 per dozen. I just chuckled. Well, she has 6 costumers paying $40 (in advance) every two months. She delivers 1 dozen weekly to each costumer. 5 costumers...

    Yep...any dog food...higher protein dog food will produce higher protein mealies I suppose... Don't know that for sure...YMMV...

    Whole wheat flour, corn meal, chicken starter ( non medicated), and ground dog food in equal parts... This is my first rodeo though...started with 250 mealies July 15, and have 10 Beatles and 20 pupa so far!!! Last week the word of the week for my 6 yo son was PUPATE!!!

    new brooder...

    built a brooder yesterday...approx 30"x66"...I think they are happy with the extra space... My wife laughed when I told her about "chicken TV", now she is a chicken TV fan...always calling/texting about the last episode I missed!!!!!!!!!!

    Finally brooding after 3years...

    Well folks, I finally have some biddies!!! After 3 years of lurking here and family discussions, we finally went to the feed and seed!!! 4 Buff Orpingtons, 3white Leghorns, and 1 Australorp. We've been brooding 3 days and all the neighbor kids have been here!!!!

    Chickens noobs

    We are in our planning stage now. Wanted to introduce our 2 1/2 yo son to more animals with a bonus of eggs. Planning to free cycle a coop if possible. We want biddies around easter, so I gave myself 4 weeks to "freecycle" some materials, then we will buy what's needed and build from there.
