One of our girls laid her first egg last week. She used 1 of the 3 boxes that we have for our 6 girls. She is still laying everyday however we find the egg in the coop under the roosting bar which is on the other side of the coop. We just had hay in the boxes but she pushed all of it out and...
Thank you so much for the replys. One more question we have the nesting boxes all set up for them but they go out at 9 am always will they go back into the coop to lay eggs or should i get them use to 12 or 1
We have six 17 week old girls someone told us to start giving them layer feed so we did. Our question is should they really be on that right now? When do they start laying eggs we have 2 Rhode island Reds 2 Buff Cochins, and 2 white orpingtons. Thanks
She has no comb yet and i was just looking at her and she seems to have the feathers on like one side of her foot.i'll try and take better pics of her.
We live in the city they just passed a new law we're allowed 5 Hens but no Roosters so that won't be an issue. I'm so excited and can't wait I think our grandson will have a great time I've heard the breeds I'm looking at are very very friendly.
Thank you that helps alot. One last question do all breeds get along we are thinking of having 2 Barred Rock,2 Buff Orpington and 2 light Brahma chickens. We really want some Happy Hens.
Thank you so much that helps I think we will go with an 8x8. We plan on having 5-6 chickens and that should give them enough space inside at night with a pretty good size run during the day while we are at work.
I'm thinking about getting 5 chickens and need to now what size coop I need and how big their run should be while i'm at work i plan on letting them run loose when I get home from work but need to keep them safe while i'm not home.
