    I'm no expert by any means, but I've looked at a LOT of EE pics the last few days trying to become familiar with how to spot an EE roo, and I think Ginger looks like a he. The red on the wings and the stance in the second pic scream roo to me. The rest are pullets though.

    Nurse turtle, just curious about what makes you think these are roosters? As Lindsey B pointed out, they don't have the flashy or patchy coloring that I've been seeing in pics of EE roos. Also, both of them have practically zero in terms of comb development. Thanks for the input.

    Thanks very much for the responses. So far the majority says pullet. I'd still love to hear from some other experienced EE raisers. Anybody else care to throw out an opinion?

    Help! Is my 4 week old EE a roo?

    My guess is roo. I've been looking at a lot of pics of EE roos vs. pullets today because I'm trying to determine if one or two of my 5 week olds are roos, and yours sure looks a lot like a cockerel based on what I've seen.

    I agree, that would be an interesting experiment. I suspect it wouldn't change much but I'd give it a shot just in case. Unfortunately though, I really don't know which hen is doing this.

    Thanks soler, but I don't think calcium deficiency is the problem. I provide oyster shell as well as soy free organic layer feed from Countryside Organics.     I'm not sure what the calcium % is but I've read so many times that a hen somehow "knows" when she needs extra and will then help herself to the oyster shell that I provide them seperately from their layer pellets.     Thank you speckledhen. I would have thought that if the egg yolks are coming from a bacterial environment of EYP that any eggs formed would be contaminated with bacteria.
