Hen taking hours to lay an egg

Hey everyone I am new to having chickens. One of our hens laid her first egg last week and nothing again until today which has been about 7 days. It was a little smaller than a normal sized egg but it looked great! This morning she started singing the egg song at about 7 and keeps going in and...

    Hen or Roo? (Buff orp)

This chick is about 11 weeks old. We originally had 2 roosters out of our five and were able to exchange them for two hens a few weeks back. The lady wasn't sure of one of them but thought it was probably a pullet. I've had her/him for about 4 weeks now. What do you think?

Is this a Buff Plymouth Rock or Buff Orpington?

    Food getting lost in sand

I'll have to try the box under the food to catch it. But do I need to just get new sand now? I don't see how I can pick out every piece of food.

    Food getting lost in sand

Hey everyone. I have 5 8 week old chicks that are living in their coop. We are using sand for the floor and really like it. My concern though is that the chickens scrarch their food and spill their food all over in the sand. I know this is normal but it just stays there. They aren't eating all...

Sex my 8 week old Buff Orps

Thanks everyone! I'm a little sad because I can't have roosters but the place we bought them from said they would exchange with us if we ended up with boys. They are the two we are least attatched to so thats good. They aren't near as friendly as the other 3. I'm guessing maybe thats a roo thing.
