Does anyone have a male African goose for sale? My male got caught in a fence today and died. My female is very lonely. If I get another male, will she pair up with it? I believe she is about 13 weeks old. I cannot remember when I got her. She has just gotten all of her feathers. I live in...
my male african goose got caught in the fence and died this morning. Can I replace it with another male? Will my female accept another male? She is not to the age that she is laying eggs yet, but is huge. Does anyone have a goose they want to get rid of?

UPDATE
I ordered 5 more ducklings and they came yesterday. My lone duck couldn't be happier. Before they came she would cry all the time and I would have to carry her around while I worked around here. Now she is so happy and the new little guys look so healthy.
I am going to give this...
Thank you so much!
I changed to a 75 watt bulb (that's all I had) and moved the lamp so that my lone duck could get away from the heat. Thank you so much. I am going to go ahead and have another go at this. I am going to order more tomorrow!
You hope that this one is going to be OK. You are...
O yeah, I started them on electrolytes today. Could that be a problem? I was going to keep them on electrolytes for three days.
I did not put the first group on them.
I think that is where I messed up, I don't think it is big enough for them to get out of the heat. It is about 2 x 2.5 feet. And I am using one of those heat lamps with the big thingy (like my words, sometimes I make them up as I go! JK).
I just moved the light so that the temp. would drop and...
Thank you Josh, I am going to turn down the heat then! I appreciate it!
And if anyone else has any advice, I appreciate it. I am feeling like a murderess right now!
Well, with the first group I lost one in the first week. Then I lost the other two during the 3rd and 4th week.
I lost one from this group in the first 6 hours. And the second one today (day 3). I have them set up a lot like my chickens only their food is a lot lower and I also put a smaller...
About 12 weeks ago, I got 10 day old chicks and 4 day old ducklings. Only one duckling survived. I order more chicks and ducklings and received them Friday August 1. I ordered 3 Sweedish ducklings. Two have died! I only have one left.
I am doing something wrong, please help!
I am NOT feeding...

I am totally new to this, but the instructions I got from the hatchery said:
90 degrees the first week and lower it 5 degrees each week. You need to pay attention to how the chicks are acting. If they are gathering around the light, they are cold and if they are trying to stay away...

That was written in such a hilarious way! Hee hee.
I don't have any advice to offer, but trust me, there are tons of duck-obsessed people here, too. I just wanted to thank you for giving me a big laugh this morning with your turn of phrase!
You are welcome!
I believe I have enough scrap left over from the coop to build a nice house (what do you call a duck house anyway?) for the duck if it should like to move away from the chickens. I hope it will bond with the new ducks once they are big enough. It might even figure out it is not a chicken.
