Great... came out this morning to find 3 of my Welshsummer chicks dead too, even though they've been kept seperate and when I checked on them last night, they were fine!!!!!!!!
7 chicks dead in 3 days, and I can't get Corid or anything like it unless I do a $48 vet visit (per animal that goes...
Is it possible that SOME chicks may not get it, as they may have built up immunity more so than others?
As all of my chicks have been in the same place, some of them have come down sick and died very quickly.... but others seem robust, greedy, pigging out, running around, being completely their...
I'm going to wind up having to fork out a wad of money for this, as pretty much the ONLY treatment option I can find is something called "Coccivet", put out by Vetafarms.
Pretty much everything else is "prescription only"... and NONE of our local vets even do birds or chickens. They're "small...
I'm having the same problem myself at the moment. Got some chicks a week ago. Not sure how old, they were just starting to get their wing feathers and now have their full wing feathers.
I noticed on Tuesday morning that one of them wasn't well. She'd been eating, drinking, etc, but when I...
Incubator has officially turned over to Day 30 and the other 6 eggs haven't even peeped. I think they're dead.
Can anybody tell me what I should be seeing if I were to candle them?
Still nothing on the egg front.... :'(
Hatchery isn't getting off to a very good start, our first ever batch of eggs and only 2 have hatched out of a dozen originally.

They're still quiet and nothing appears to be happening, a day later than it should have started.
On March 3rd at our local livestock auctions, I purchased a batch of 12 fertilised Indian Runner Duck eggs.
15 days into incubating them in my Janoel, I candled the eggs to find 4 were complete fails and I had 8 viable eggs.
Duck eggs take 28 days to hatch according to all information sources...

Keep an eye on her, let us know how you went and what she turns out like :D
Okay, thanks Aoxa. Very helpful!
Some more updated pics of my babies another 4 days on. :)
(yes, I do take a lot of photos, lol. I'm learning photography, so I shoot everything).
Little Icey's rusted feather tips are actually fading now, they've paled down a lot...
Awesome, thanks everybody!
Good to get some kinda thoughts to back me up! :D
Will have to take more pictures when they're a bit older and show you how they look as they get older.
Wish I knew exactly how old they are, so I could know when to start expect laying.... but I think its way too...
Thanks for the comments on how pretty they are.
I got a call saying "you couldn't possibly take on two young chickens could you, they're those frizzley things" and I'm not even supposed to have chickens at all, but I do love frizzles, so I said I'd go look at them. I laid eyes on them and said...
