Would there be any interest in starting a breed club for campines?
I know this is still a very slow breed when compared to the growing popularity of others. At shows I see people come look at my birds, say how pretty they are and how they'd love to have some and then walk away like they never...
Wow, I haven't been on here in forever. It's good to see everyone with greater numbers and better birds than what I remember it used to be! I myself have bred out a lot campines this year, most of them golden pullets. My spring show season has been pretty good this year, too!
You're cockerel with feathers on his shanks looks to me like he has marans blood in him. Marans are single combed and have feathers which only line the outside (lateral) part of the shank. BUT marans do not have white ear loves, so like the others said, he definitely is a mix.

The boy also looks as if it was crossed with a single combed bird. And I actually think it is the result of quite a few crosses, with silkie being in the first. Then crossed again with a large bird. He's bigger than that leghorn laying back there.
