Hello! I finally got my batch of Lav's and Black from Paul Smith and this will be my starter flock for Lav's. We plan to show locally and look forward to seeing what we produce from these babies. They are still young but we will see how they mature.
I got my Paul Smith babies this morning sadly i lost one of my Lav's in shipment and it was over night so i guess it was not very strong. They are all from different breeding pens so i am excited and hopeful for my future breeders. These will be my kids show birds and i will be trying my hand...
Thank you all so much! I am thrilled that i at least have one girl! I have had such a hard time hatching and raising some of these and i was praying i would get a hen so they can hatch their own!
No gold he may be sun burnt as he free ranges during the day.Yes it is terribly hard to get a good picture LOL I tried trust me and this was the best i could come up with
The black had no streamers and i swore it was a hen till one day when i discovered the comb that looked like a nut haha and i wish i would have taken pics of him before i cut on his puff lol I had to cut it cause he could not see! and now it's a mess.
Well i hatched this baby a few months ago now and i still have no idea what it is LOL Now the black one i swore was a hen until recently it's a roo so i am praying the little blue is a girl can anyone help?
^ Roo
Fingers crossed it's a girl i don't see any signs of a comb and she...
Good luck! I have been looking for a roo for a while now and i can't seem to find one. I have a WLR hen and i am dying to find her a mate to breed in the spring.
I have just recently started feeding my chickens Wheat, Oats and Boss sprouts with Alfalfa mixed in there too. I have been experimenting with different seeds and so far my girls are loving this! Green in the winter they are in heaven lol and so cost effective! I pay 12.00 for 100 pds of wheat...
So if i went and got some raw goats milk would this work in fattening them up? Interesting my neighbor has dairy goats and i can buy milk from them and maybe do an rolled oats with milk mash and feed it to them.
You know funny you say this because i have done this with my roo's to be processed. I put them in a chain link pen with t-post's as perches that they fly up an down from them to roost and get away from each other when being picked on by other roo's. I will let you know how that worked when i...
Well i posted here a few weeks back that we went to our first show and my son won grand champion with his little white laced red cornish hen. I have been on a mission trying to find a roo so i can make more. Obviously you want the best you can get so as to improve and get better show birds etc...
Hi thought i would post here and see if anyone has or knows where i can find a White laced red Cornish roo? I have a little hen that has placed well in a show and would like to find her a mate. If you know of any breeders and can point me in a direction i would appreciate it. Thanks!
I wanted to share my kids did their 1st 4-h show this past weekend and we only entered 4 birds because i did not want to get overly complicated since it was the 1st one and to my surprise we had 3 place! and one got champion bird in her class! I am so excited and so were the kids! Our little red...
Thank you for your response it's really strange but i agree sounds like something may be stuck and she is trying to get it out or it triggers her to do that. I just hope my girls are not getting sick cause i just adore them!
