    Coop Canopy Collapse

I feel very sorry for all those affected by Hurricane Sandy. While it did not damage our house, it did collapse the canopy above our chicken coop. My husband and I worked out in the rain and wind building a roof for our girls. Now that's love! Lol! I updated my coop design page...

Comment by 'Jessigrace' in article 'Everything But The Kitchen Sink Coop'

Yes three days, but like I said we had all that scrap wood. Much of it was already cut to the size we needed. My husband just trimmed up everything and pieced it together. The roof was a part of a built in desk my mother built for her basement, then took apart years later. The nest boxes were...

Everything But The Kitchen Sink Coop

    Help...chicks are going a little crazy...I think

My chicks are about 3 weeks old and are going crazy as well. They are flying/coasting around the brooder. Loud chirps, quite chirps, constant quite chirps, scratching, and dust bathing. I feel like they have grown so much in just a short time.

    Bringing Home the Babies

Well last night was great! It did take me a while to get the temp adjusted. After it was just right the chicks were so quiet. Just eating, drinking, napping. I used our laundry hamper/clothes hanger. Which will work nicely when it comes time to lower the temp. I also covered one end with a sheet...

    Bringing Home the Babies

Today we are finally going to the store to get our first ever chicks. Everything is set up and waiting for them. We live in the city and can only have 2 unless we get written permission from all surrounding neighbors. I already went to check them out as the truck delivered them. My husband...
