Got the Tylocin a few days ago and added it to their water. They're doing much better.
They also had puffy, watery eyes with cherry looking tear ducts. But after a few days of being flushed with saline, they look better as well. Strange how one showed no symptoms, one showed minor and one I...
Eating relatively ok. Sometimes I have to tempt her with treats to get her interested in eating the crumbles.
Her and one other pullet have the puffy eye thing going on.
Still waiting for the Tylocin to show up. Ugh... no ETA date.
Currently treating with VetRX.
One pullet has this new sore on her mouth. And runny, slightly puffy eyes.
Id say yes. It's ok.
I believe them to be more cold hardy than heat tolerant. Plus if you feel the need to temporarily cover a window or 2 for cold drafts, thats always a possibility.
I have the coop you initially posted I think. I modified it a bit, but so far love it. It doesn't seem like...
Have corid coming today but I'm honestly not convinced it's cocci.
I ordered some tylocin in hopes its a respiratory issue. Problem is I don't know when it'll arrive. Fingers crossed they hold on till I get the treatment!
I can't take them back unfortunately. They're either going to make it or not with me.
There is no sneezing or gaping going on. This morning the one's eye was a tad more puffy and seemingly itchy. But they're in decent spirits otherwise.
I also got some permethrin dust that will arrive with...
All I can quickly get my hands on is corid in a pellet form. They're out of all other kids.
Not sure if that would even work.
ETA- ordered some powder corid that should be here tomorrow. I guess it won't hurt to treat them with it.
I traded my 4 nearly laying aged hens for 4 two month old lavender orpingtons. That was on 8/3.
Got the lavenders home and put them in the coop my 4 prior girls used. Didn't clean anything out.
Now 2 of my 4 lavenders are tired- a lot. Fall asleep standing up, keep one eye closed more than the...
They were sold as 3 pullets and one suspected roo.
After I saw them I noticed 1 had a significantly smaller and darker grey comb than the other 3. So I became worried that only 1 is a pullet.
But after watching them in the coop it's evident that there's only 1 roo. And gosh is he handsome?! I...
Hello,
Do I have 3 pullets and 1 roo or 3 roos and 1 pullet? They are roughly 2 month old.
Only number 2 looks 100% pullet to me.
Thanks!
Edit to add more pics of the hopeful pullets
Got it.
It did appear as though the previous owner went WAY overboard with the DE when he had them. The 1st time I cleaned out the coop, the whole floor was white powder under the old shavings.
One of the lorps had a sneeze, but it's since gone away. Maybe this particular EE that is still...
Thanks for the reply!
I'll try to wrangle one and give it an inspection.
The coop so far is a decent size for the birds. They all fit in one nest box and tend to pile in there each evening. *eyeroll*
They've yet to discover the roost bar that goes all the way across the top.
I'm in southeast...
I haven't had chickens since 2015. I remember a lot of the basics and sure missed having birds, but find myself questioning things this time around.
Bought 4 pullets two weeks ago.
2 black australorps and 2 EEs. They're roughly 2.5/3 months old I guess(?)
Beautiful birds, though not quite the...
