    Bantam Cochin.

They all look like cochins to me. You have a black mottled frizzle, some calico smooth feathered ones and I'm not sure what the 2nd frizzle is considered. Are you planning on breeding any? Are they all males? Do you want the chance for frizzle offspring? Keep what redinator posted in mind if...

    Color genetic people- Any insights?

Thank you! Unfortunately the red chick has passed away. So I'll never know. These 4 biddies hatched from this momma hen, it'll be exciting to see who- if any, look like her once feathered. The 4 chicks at the top of the picture are hers. I guess we can rule the black chick out lol

    Color genetic people- Any insights?

If momma hen looks like this- Would the red chick or the white chick feather out like her? Sadly I don't have a picture of the rooster. The dark chick is unrelated.

    My first incubation thread

2nd chick hatched last night! Far left. Such an interesting color. The red chick and the white chick were from a family member who had day old bantams to keep the 1st hatch some company while waiting on the 2nd.

Fluffed up and in the brooder. He was doing some damage to the other eggs in the bator. His sibling should be along shortly! Not sure how tall to set the heat plate, so I have it at a slant and have a cloth at a slant so he can decide how he wants to lay. Its hot to my touch, but perhaps...

Lock down begins today! One egg is a'rockin!! I expect the rest to follow soon. The funky air sac egg is still funky, but not detached or saddled. Just to the side of the egg instead of at the end of the egg. The chick is developing at a decent rate.

Candled again this morning on day 8 of this egg. I'm still not sure what to do. @Debbie292d may I please bother you for some wisdom? The moving embryo is at the bottom. But the flip side of the egg has this non moving air pocket. Will that make the chick not be able to develop? Embryo is the...

The suspicious egg looks to have a tad more veins today. But still no embryo. Do I leave it in the incubator? Today is day 4 for it.

I'm Probably Gonna Need My Hand Held Quail Hatch-A-Long

Aww poor Will. I was rooting for him. I have a stargazing hen. She's different, but thriving! Of course there are a multitude of severity. Odd about the bare back on that one too! Almost looks red and irritated. Is it wrong to say the ones colored dark like that have been the ones that have...
