Thank you for all your kind comments! I let them out to roam today for the first time, and they put themselves back to bed - so i'm happy, and they're doing well!

    Baby chicks - advice please!

Thanks for your reply. I phoned my neighbour and he said the mum would look after them, but they should have a coop to go into at night, just for them. I converted an old insulated play shed of my sisters and made them up a cosy home. Getting them in was a nightmare though, because there are...

Give me some ideas for chicken tricks

The most my chicken does it answer to her name when she feels like it (lol) and stand on my leg if i sit cross legged on the ground. She does like her throat stroked rather a lot and will stretch her neck out a little in response

    Baby chicks - advice please!

Need help! 11 baby chicks appeared in the garden today. We didn't realise one hen had been missing as some roam and some sleep in the coop. The hen seems to be handling them ok, but i'm worried with it being this time of year that they won't be warm enough just sleeping under the hen under a...

    Poorly foot

Thanks. No, there doesn't seem to be anything stuck in the foot, and there is no visible sign of injury. She will put it on the ground to walk, but limps when she does this. It isn't curled up as she raises it, just lifted up

    Poorly foot

My chicken is about 3 months old, and has until now been perfectly healthy. Today when she woke up, she began holding her foot up off the ground. Her breathing is also a bit raspy, and under her beak towards her neck feels a little sweaty. She's still eating and drinking ok, but she looks like...

Cockerels - how many is too many?

We have 8 hens, and 2 cockerels, but one cockerel has removed himself from the group (now sleeping in the garden, not the coop) after they had a fight a couple weeks ago involving blood. Wasn't very nice. We plan on getting rid of the agressive one so the other can go back, plus we have a chick...

You guys are living my dream! Especially those with horses. One day! Im guessing most of you if not all are from the US of A. Its different here (England), chicken people are in the minority and i dont know anyone who qualifies to call themselves an Old mcDonald farm to your standards! We have...
