When our hens go broody we put them in a different room. they have their own food and water and they stay alone with the chicks until the chicks learn to listen to their mommy's every command. then we let them out with the others slowly.

We ordered 25 silkies (assorted) and we are having trouble deciding what colors we have. thanks for any help Also, these two silkies are the same age, but the red one just wont grow!!! shes so sweet though. and she eats as much as the gray one. she weighs 4.0 oz. and the gray one is 9.4...

we just call it crooked foot syndrom lol. we have one that has one crooked foot. her name is alexandria. she gets around fine. we had one before also. ive never seen one with BOTH feet crooked. here is allie. its her left foot. as you can see, she is scratching around like a normal chicken.

We have 10 barred rock girls that are 7 weeks old now. they are growing so fast! we dont have a barred rock roo, instead we have a RIR roo. so far he is looking good. we plan on making sex-links. handsome man you have there speckledhen!

we used to have a BEAUTIFUL ameraucana rooster named hawkeye. he was the meanest thing! to get the eggs you would have to take a trashcan lid and a broom to keep him off. is yours a barred rock?
