Today I introduced two roosters to my 8 hens.Most of the hens are two years old. three are four years old. They have never been bred.
Within 30 minutes the hens were huddling by the pen door and squacking a racket that would raise the dead! Are they afraid of the roosters?

After the four days of the penicillin injections, and 6 days later, my hen is running, jumping and flying to her perch once again! She seems happy and in no pain. She still looks a bit swollen but not as much as before. She still has a dirty tush.

I am going to proceed on the basis that it is EYP and not a cancer. I will try what you suggested, Thank you. I have not ever given a shot. Is the penicillin only given by injection? Can I harm her if I push too hard or stick it in the incorrect spot?
I am beginnning to become very discouraged by everyones unsuccessful experiences with EYP. I now have two hens with the symptoms. I didnt hink tha tit was contagious.
Both are eating and seem happy but have messy tushes and emit greenish poop that smells REALLY bad!

I have a hen with what seems to be Egg Yolk periotinitus. Does anyone have any remedies?What do I do to make her feeel better? she is eating oatmeal with some antibiotics mixed in. I read somewhere to crush up tums and feed that to her as a diruretic?
