1 day old chick with slightly curled right foot...

I noticed it a little while after she hatched. They have mash for baby chicks and were eating a bit of the watermelon that I have their mamma.I just don't want it to develop all deformed. Might it straighten out on it's own or maybe I can stretch her foot out now and then when I check on them...

She can walk just fine, but her toes are curled under just a bit. I tried taping her foot and immediately the mamma tried pecking her foot off! What do I do??!!

Took eggs from Broody mamma...need help!

Well 3 ended up hatching (there were plenty of eggs that were just regular yolks...I candled them, and they were still perfectly good!) we put a cookie sheet of water underneath the eggs and then put the eggs on top of raised slotted plastic (it's actually the bottom of a garden starter kit for...

What temp should the eggs be (under a heat lamp) while they're hatching?

Thanks! I put the eggs on a makeshift "water evaporator" with heat tape underneath two of the eggs are chirping away and we've seen one americauna egg moving around...so hopefully they will hatch soon

What temp should the eggs be (under a heat lamp) while they're hatching?

I have the eggs under a heat lamp...but I don't know how hot (99 seems too hot) they should be while we're waiting for them to hatch. I have a thermometer and it hasn't gone above 99. The eggs FEEL too hot and I'm worried we might be baking them!! We moved the heat lamp away just now to give...

Took eggs from Broody mamma...need help!

We have a broody mamma who has been for quite some time. We decided to let her hatch some eggs right after our rooster "bit the dust" (he attacked our 4 yr old daughter...so that was the end of him). We checked on her this morning and another hen had gotten into her nest and probably suffocated...

Found my 5 month old Americauna on the floor of their coop!

I haven't seen any mites or cuts, etc. They have a large coop, about 8X12 and it's probably 10-11 feet high (my hubby built it) their roosts are high (7-8 feet up maybe?) because we heard that they like to go up high for heat and it mimics a tree...? They have 2 roosts that are about 3 feet...

Found my 5 month old Americauna on the floor of their coop!

Hi there, I found one of my Americauana hens on the floor of the coop this morning, barely alive. She was laying on her stomach, legs underneath her and her head curled under. I thought she was just sleeping at first, but realized that she wasn't laying down in a natural position. Her eyes...
