    lost 2 today

I lost two of my girls today. Both have no heads and parts of the entrails are gone. But one is missing alot of meat on her as well. It almost looks like two different kind of kills. I sure hope not because that means I have two predators to catch. *Sigh* My son is getting his ' special bait'...

    Best company to order from

We have ordered from Meyer, Ideal, and McMurray. We order alot for our own and for fair laying, breeding, and meat birds. Meyers birds were great the first year, then after that we had a lot of chicks that had deformed feet or missing toe nails. We had never had a problem with Ideal until this...

    Goat skillathon

Our extention office has a practice packet for our kids to use. A lot of times you can find study guides online. Our skillathons ask questions on digestive, reproductive, and muscuolskeletal, as well as types of grasses, breeds, and types of goats. Good luck.!

how often do you worm your goats?

In the summer we worm monthly and every other month in the winter. We only use the same wormer twice in a row as they can become immune to it. If they are not wormed the end result is death. Once they get them so bad it is very difficult to get rid of. There have been large breeders that have...

I just wash the dirty ones under hot/warm water as well. If they aren't really dirty, then I don't mess with them.

Breeding goats i need some answers please???

Goat due dates are very predictable..150 days, almost always to the day. I have not had any problems so far with goats kidding on their own. I agree, put them in a kidding stall/pen about 2 weeks before they are due. We try to be there when all of our kids are born just to make sure that...

Help, Scared to Death!!! No eggs...

You need to kill it or find someone that will catch it and move it to another location. If not you won't have any eggs. I have never seen a small snake attack a full size bird, but it may a chick. I know that my girls and roo will kill it if they see it, but a friend's chickens would just stand...

    Banding a Goats Horn?

We've nevered banded, only burned with disbudding when they are small kids. If they are older, we leave them alone. We only disbud if buyer prefers, or if it is a fair kid that it is required.

    Help!!Goat with runny stool

In our experience, if there is a change in diet, it will likely cause a change in their stools. We don't immediately administer meds unless they are lethargic or it is very watery. Then we look at all possible causes and treat as needed.

Mine will stay out if it is a light rain, but will go inside if it is a heavy rain. I have never had the rain affect their laying.

The heated waters that I have are all plastic with the heater built in the base. i can either hang them or set them on the ground.
