    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So true! My mom had neighbors with goats, and the goats would regularly hop the fence, trot up to my mom's place, then jump on her Harley and all over the hood of her car. Drove her absolutely nuts until butchering time. They are cute little bugger though

I'll be interested in finding out what breed you choose! We were going to wait til we have more property in a couple years, but she just fell into place and fit in so well, we couldn't say no...but we'll still be wanting a guardian dog down the road, and she loves other dogs so a buddy would be...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Long time, no see! There's no way I'm going to even attempt to catch up on the hundreds of pages I've missed, but my condolences for the chickens lost. I disappeared to handle a crazy finals session last term, and then had an even crazier holiday season assisting with some family health...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We both just left the dinosaur age of cell phones this week and got "real" cell phones. I got an iPhone 4S, and he got a Samsung Galaxy S3 (thankfully, DD is standing next to me and knew what his phone was). Both of us are trying to figure them out. I've figured some things out on mine, he's...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Too busy lately to keep up very well, but I try to skim when I have a few. I hope everyone (and their families and chooks) are doing well! Thanks for that! Corgis are the only small dog I'd make an exception for, and while I don't love labs, I'm not totally against the breed (especially in a...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thanks to everyone for the input! My sister's not the type to randomly take in animals so it must have been a bad situation for her to step in. Hopefully I can get more info out of her soon. I've known a lot of wonderful pits, and I really like farm/shepherd dogs, but I'm not a fan of labs (all...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My husband and I are thinking about getting a dog. I've never been much of a dog person in the sense that I enjoy other people's well mannered dogs, but haven't really considered one for myself (mostly due to not wanting to give up my habit of going barefoot in the yard), but we've talked it...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

277 posts later, I sure hope I'm caught up! The chickens were roaming earlier and I went out to check on them and I think they cornered a squirrel and gave it a concussion. There was a squirrel halfway in a bush having issues climbing with the girls all around, and I thought maybe it was sick...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So much to catch up on! I've been swamped with school stuff, but I'm still lurking...everyone has such cute chicks and I'm glad the adorable corgi made it home safe! They're the only "small" breed that I've ever been interested in having some day :). Too fun! I picked up some little kid fairy...

Chickens for 10-20 years or more? Pull up a rockin' chair and lay some wisdom on us!

I'll admit, I use layer crumbles for cat litter so that could be a legitimate question from my husband . The dust from the clay kind makes me sick, and crumbles clump and control smell just as good as the alternative grain-based litters except instead of paying $30 for a 40 lb bag at a big pet...

Creative Countertop Issues That I Can't Find Addressed Anywhere... DIY *smh* 0.o

I bet you could get all the air bubbles out by pre-soaking the fabric in your clear coat and using a squeegee to "glue" it to the countertop. Once it's dry, you could use a utility knife to cut the excess off the edges for a perfect fit (avoiding issues with stretching or shrinking or perfect...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Yep, I treat my whole batch as backslop...I add to it when there's roughly 1/2 left so there's still quite a bit of culture, and I make my additions after a day's feeding comes out so the new stuff has a good 24 hours to ferment before I need to dip in again.
