!! Hen With Red Swollen Foaming Eye !!

My one year old Easter Egger was found today with her left eye shut. She can open it and its clearly redder than the other healthy eye and the skin around it is red and slightly swollen. She keeps itching it and even the mouth area close to it, but eats and runs around like normal. However, when...

    Broken Beak Please Help!!

2 weeks ago I went on vacation and a few days after my sister tells me my favorite hen, a barred rock named Velvet, has a broken beak. A chunk of the upper beak tip was gone. I believe it was dried over with blood. She cleaned it and it scabbed in time but I finally got to look at it today and...

Urgent: Parasites? Bugs under nest box!

    Help transitioning to organic feed

I already got fifty lbs of powdery feed since that's the only organic feed offered in my small city. I will look into pellets in the future but for now I'll try my best by mixing in some water and maybe kitten food

Ive fed my chicks regular grower crumbles from a supply house. It ran out and yesterday I got organic feed which has a separated mixture of beans corn and powdery feed etc, and they avoid it unless they're absolutely starving, always having empty stomachs lately. I dont want to stunt their...

    First eggs most nutritious??

My moms been telling me in the first few weeks when my flock starts laying their eggs the eggs will be the most nutritious compared to the rest of their own eggs. Her logic is that they've had a lifetimes build up of nutrients from food and bugs and veggies. I'm skeptical, google showed nothing...

Help! My flock has brown clumps along their feathers. Parasites??

The next morning before I went to buy insecticide their feathers were soft and fluffy again. All of them. Only isolated clumps were left and it didn't look like either lice or mites.... They've been completely happy and fine. What I did do was buy a 5 dollar 3- gal giant sturdy pan from tractor...

thanks! their vents seem fine, and this is the first day they felt lumpy- usually they have soft smooth feathers. What makes you think its lice versus mites? I've been trying to look at photos online and comparing.

Help! My flock has brown clumps along their feathers. Parasites??

I'm honestly freaking out. Will post picture soon. I affectionately picked up one of my ameracaunas and she felt lumpy. I looked closely and in the fluffy part of her feathers there are brown clumps of various sizes, but not all at the base like lice eggs. I think it might be northern fowl...
