My daughter had Flemish giant babies June 3rd. Today, one of my younger children was surprised to find another litter. Needless to say, we are NOT happy. My daughter is very careful to make sure the two are separated. The only thing we can figure out is that the neighbor girl must have...
I know, not the place to do this... but I just relogged in, after years of not being here. And just feel sadness seeing my clueless posts.
He got that transplant. Build an harbor at the end of the other path. My flowers grew in beautifully. Even built a large vegetable to the right...
Hokum Coco.....I thought of this too, but there are trees in the run that I would have to cut down, and I think the trees are keeping the hawks out. Not to mention lots of shade. And my yard is small...no where else to put the run :/
So my run is all dirt.
Because of recent events, I no longer can free range my chickens. That means they are stuck in their all dirt run. The biggest part is maybe 20 x 30 and then the covered run is about 8 x 12. I am thinking about sectioning the back half off, planting grass and then...
Another update....
Well it has taken a while but I am just about finished with landscaping. Ties were free as were all the flowers I planted so far (thank goodness for mothers and their perenial gardens)I am anxious for the flowers to grow and fill in the holes.
I am finally getting to the...
Thats just it....there is nothing. I am zoned residential. Under residential it says agricultural and specialized farming is allowed with stipulations. The only one listed is 100 feet from the road.
Warning...just a rant...
So, I have read and re-read my zoning rules and I can find nothing that says I can not keep chickens or a rooster. But I found out I will be receiving a call from the zoning person because she received two complaints about my roosters being too loud.
I have overlooked...
I'm getting two Nigerian dwarf wethers in June. They will be my first goats so I am asking the same questions you have been. This thread has been very helpful! I think I will be going with electrified fence as we have coyote, bobcat, fishers, etc. I want to allow them to come and go from the...
My chicks are hatching! But now I wonder. I had one baby hatch yesterday late(1am) (day 20). Now today I have four more that hatched. And tons of pips both yesterday and today. So now I have five chicks with all my eggs in my incubator. When do I take them out? They are all dried, but I...
The orpingtons will/would have been one midsummer. The Ameracauna will be one early summer. I got them all as chicks. The meanest one, Buddy, was played with the most. He was held a lot and he was not afraid. He was pecking at me before he crowed. Nothing too bad, usually just once. It has...
So far the two roosters are doing good penned up together. My hens seem happy too! I am going to just keep them in the sectioned off part and keep a close eye on them.
I will do more research on how to keep two roosters locked up without them killing each other.
My son is doing good, just a few scratches on his back. He is scared to go outside though, which makes me mad. The one rooster is now in my fridge. When my son saw the rooster, he asked me why dad...
