Never had any luck with peanut butter or cheese, mine loved bacon. I am not the best house keeper in the place and left a skillet with bacon grease in it and next morning found nibbles in the pan.
I TIED bacon on a snap trap and lo and behold I caught the little bugger.
Good Luck!!
Hubby and I are going to retire in Sept and need to sell all my birds.
Theses birds are 8 months old and were purchased from Ideal Hatchery.
I am located in Austin Texas.
I have to chime in here. The black copper marans (for me) are the most beautiful chickens I have ever had the pleasure to raise.
I bought eggs from a breeder at $50.00 a dozen and I feel it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
They are gentle and gorgeous birds.
So the answer...

I had a very good friend from Utopia. Unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago.
He always went home for his class reunion. James Smallwood will always be remembered friend.
Well my turn, I am one of those folks that have family living nearby. We live on 10 acres and in the beginning my oldest son, his wife and 2 children lived in our home.
They soon got their own home and moved about 100 yards away from my front porch.
It is a wonderful thing to have family...
That was exactly the answer I was looking for. Thank you so much for your quick response.
I have 18 crele pendesenca eggs in one incubator and placing 18 wheaton penedesenca in the second incubator tomorrow.
Hatch date for the crele is 5/9. wheaton 5/11.
I read that some people move there eggs from one incubator to another as they pip? (or at least I think that is what they meant).
So what is the difference between a incubator and a hatcher?
I purchased eggs from a breeder and 5 hatched. They are Black Copper Marans. BC was marked on these eggs.
Is there a way to tell roos from pullets in the baby chicks by color or do I need to wait for comb to color and crowing to start.
Hey Danny ,
How old do you want it to be? I have a Black Copper Maran I hatched for eggs I bought from Gar Creek Poultry.
I think I have 4 roos and 1 pullet but they are only about 3 weeks old.
The problem I am having is the wet bulb vs the other?
I have maintained my humidity at 58 % for the first 18 days.
Do I now have to raise it to 65% for the last 3 days?
This morning when I let out the hens, one of my newest additions that I have had for 15 weeks, didn't leave the house to free range.
She allowed me to pick her up. The two things together are unusual in themselves.
I have brought her into the house and isolated her.
She has running poop...
I have a 15 week old pullet. She is lethargic, losing feathers randomly.
Her eyes are dry, no apparent lesion or "bugs".
She allowed me to easily pick her up as before she was skittish.
No discharge from nose.
Still waiting for a poop to check for smell, consistancy, and color.
Any...
