Totally random, and off the subject here, but I'm looking for a horse trailer, if anybody knows of one.
Wanting a 3-horse or bigger, bumper pull preferred, but I'm not against putting a GN hitch in my truck if necessary, and wanting to stay around $2,000. I know, I'm asking for the moon, but...
Mine always changed where they layed their eggs too, and I did find a few in the pool. They never did settle on just one spot. I would expect her shells to become more consistent with time. If she is allowed to free range at all during the day, that will help. :)
HI RJ, I'm glad to read where not everyone here supplements in the winter. I just moved here from Oregon, and I was slightly concerned about the climate change, though my breed is pretty cold hardy. I never supplemented heat or light in winter over there, and really didn't want to open that...
Not always. Early to mature boys will get red early, yes, but not as a rule. Just like sometimes boys will start to crow as soon as a few weeks old, but it's not always the case. If you're lucky, your boys mature early, so you can tell what you've got, but many times you have to wait until...
I don't know who called them "less hardy" but that's not generally the case. They do better in cold weather than hot weather. I'm sure they will be fine in your climate.
That's a topic with many different viewpoints. Depends on where you live, your climate, and what you're feeding them. For artificially incubated chicks, I don't let them on the ground until they are near maturity, and that's with medicated feed, because of the possibility of coccidiosis. I...
If they're only 13 weeks old, they shouldn't be red yet. If you could post pics, we could tell you if they look normal. They normally don't get red until they are reaching maturity.
