Im new with chickens so i dont know much about diseases or worms but that kind of sounds like it might be a tape worm. I dont know if that would cause pain though.
My Red Star, Little Red, just, in the past hour or less, started acting lethargic. She and her sister have had a runny nose for a while but it hasn't been too bad. She also has a funny smell to her. I was wondering if anybody knew what it could be? Also, could she have allergies to the pollen?
We just always though he was. I guess we didn't want him to be a rooster so we just tried to ignore it. We used to have a different rooster with the one in the background and they both crowed all the time. We will probably get rid of him because he is really mean.
Ok I was 99.9% sure he was a rooster. I'm kind of new to chickens so I just wanted to be sure. Also, what's a cockerel and the differences between them and roosters?
I have a RIR that we always thought was a hen until recently. "She" has clearly outgrown ALL other hens even older than herself. She hasn't crowed but has been seen mounting our new hen and constantly picks on the other hens. She has some traits of a
rooster but we just need confirmation
.
I had this happen to two of my chicks. I had 6 chicks total, 4 of the same breed. Two died from my dogs which are now behaving a bit better. The other two though started stumbling about and laying down a lot. When they did lay down they couldn't stand up without help. They wouldn't eat or drink...
My chicken keeps raising the feathers on her back to the point you can see the skin at the base of her tail and back two inches or so. She hasn't started laying yet but is around the age. Does this mean shes saying shes ready to mate? Or is she just cleaning her feathers?
Thanks for the help.
I haven't changed the bedding lately and I use pineshavings. I checked around and didn't notice any bugs or snakes but I will look for mold. Thanks and I will update soon. Is the mold bad and if so how could I take care of it?
I walked into my chicken coop today and it smelled sweet. I wasn't a bad sweet but it wasn't a good one either. I would like to know if anybody has ever experienced this or knows what it is.
Thanks.
Ok so im a first timer and I have already read about pasty butt and the solutions. My only issue that it isn't a big clump of poop, its a small layer. How can I get it off without hurting her?
