My first Fox attack that ended in a kill

Get proficiant with your new firearm and as said get some subsonic rounds, thier no louder than an air-rifle. Remember the rules of firearm safety. When you have an encounter with the predator do not hesitate to act or he will be gone. After he is dispatched make use of his hide, there are many...

WTHeck is wrong with my hen's eye?? HEAVY PICS- graphic

Had the same issue with a BR roo. Started out as a sinus infection (dust in the coop). Kept the eye clean but it still became infected even with antibiotics, he lost the eye and had to be culled eventually.

Sorry to hear you may have the illness. I was diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer 3 years ago at the age of 35. It took several weeks to figure out what it was but after it was biopsied my treatment started within 5 days. and lasted for 8 weeks. I had a combo of radiation and chemo. I have been...

Its all food to my family. Eggs, Meat or Poop for the garden, we dont do meaties(cornish rocks) but will put a old hen to its full use . We do love our birds but they will never replace the family dogs as pets. Our chickens are utilitarian on my property and I try to teach my son the self...

Very sad day... I lost 12 Ancona ducks to hunters on POSTED land.

Im a hunter and I'm sorry for your loss. I can say that in most sates as a hunter we are requested to remove non native species when we encounter them. The main question arises is. Was the hunter on land he was given permission to hunt and was the fowl on land you was given permission to keep...

None. All of laying age, going on 7 months old. Have resorted to treatening them with the crock pot (flock reset).

chickens killed by two dogs - GOOD NEWS

I have a simple way to look at it. If it was a newborn in a crib and the dogs broke through the front screen door and killed it would people have a different opinion on putting the animal down. I have no use for neighbors free ranging dogs, they get more brazen the further they get from their...

chickens killed by two dogs - GOOD NEWS

Sorry to hear of the attack. Personally I would use about .55 cents of hot lead, thats just me being the angry victem though. On a separate note if your not a fan of firearms, catch them and haul thier mangy butts a couple of counties over to thier animal control. The animal control in your area...

Coyotes now know.. that I own birds.

You better kill it first time you see it again, then you have the rest to contend with (there could be many) for a while. Look at my pics, theres nothing I hate more than a yote. As for your little dog, I would treat him the same as a free range flock after you know a predator is around. Dont...

Do you believe in defending you and yours?

Never had a issue with birds of prey. The only coyote on my property is a dead one, have no use for a ferral house cat as well. Most predators are beast of habit and lazy for a lack of better terms. Once they find an easy pick they will return until its depleted. A well constructed coop will...

How To Train Your Dog Not To Kill Chickens

My lab and Jack were arond B.C. (before chickens). The lab is very tolerant of my flock and geriatric as well. Both have kept my flock safe at night from the free ranging ferral cats and coons. I will say the jack is never left un supervised when the flock is beyond the confines of thier coop.

How To Train Your Dog Not To Kill Chickens

I have a Jack russell that can never be trusted around anything chicken or 4 legged and 40 pounds or less. He has took down 40 pound wild swine. He is the most lovable 22 pound dog I have ever had and is quite docile for his breed, but was bred to kill vermin in the middle ages and that triat...

Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

I was worried when I aquired my flock about the snake issue because we live on a lake and cottonmouth are pretty prevelant around here. After hearing the alarm calls and seeing the attack of the flock, the only thing that worries me is coons and opossums after dark. And of course my Jack Russel...

Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

2 foot corn snake made it into the run. Had a dozen birds on it in a flash. Would not have believed it if I had not have seen the attack. Only thing left of him after 5 minutes was its head and my only RIR hen carried it around like some kind of trophy for 30 minutes or so.
