I love love this feeder, although my chickens love to stand on it and poop on the cover where you put the food in. There's poop that collects in the lip above the opening and I'm thinking it falls in when it is opened. I'm having to clean it every few days. Is there something I can put on...
These girls area great white egg layers on the smaller size for eggs. Quite consistent layers. They are more noisy than my other chickens. If I don't throw chicken scratch into their coop they will roost in the trees above their coop. Not too safe as I do have predators around.
So a dog got to some of our chickens and I'm wondering if there are any stores that carry chicks right now? I have only raised chicks in the Spring previously. Or any hatcheries you would recommend? I saw the mypetchicken is out of a lot of breeds. I'm thinking that might be the case for...
I knew that raising chicks could be messy, but I didn't realize it would be so dusty! And I didn't realize how relaxing it would be to watch them free range! I always ask my kids if they want to come watch "chicken tv" with me. I always get a taker:)

I just try and be specific with our "rules" when holding the chicks. I say, "Hold them close to your chest." And "You have to sit down." I try and teach them to put their hands like a cup, so the chick doesn't flop out of their hands onto the ground. Once the chicks get older and more sturdy...
Hi everyone! I'm over here in the East Bay! Danville to be exact. We've got 4 chickens already and will be picking up some chicks next week from Concord feed in Dublin! Glad to have found this thread:)
I just switched containers that hold my feed and I guess it's not waterproof:( Is there anything I can do with this wet feed? Can I dry it out in the sun and feed it back to the chickens? It's on day 2 of being wet in the big container. It has been covered.
TIA!
I was so lucky to receive a coop and 2 hens for free. I had been wanting chickens for a while so I jumped at the chance as they were looking to get rid of them asap. I have yet to build run for the hens and will do in the next few days.
I've been letting them out in our yard while I put the...
