Yesterday my turkey eggs hatched, 3 out of 6...one is 100% and the other two have what looks like severely contracted tendons in their feet/legs. They cannot walk. Other than just making sure they can eat/drink, what can I do to help these poor things get their legs to work?
I have 5 ISA blacks, 10 ISA browns, and 2 white roosters, not sure what kind...leghorn I think. But I also have an incubator, so I hatched 15 in one batch and 22 from the next batch. I guess they would be ISA Leghorn cross? What is a "mutt" chicken called? Lol! I also have 3 royal palm turkeys...
I have the same question! I can't see how it would hurt...mine is peeping out of the hole, but it does look dry, and has been that way for about 12hours.
I am new at this! My first chick just hatched and is chirping its little heart out! What is the best thing to do? Leave it in there untill it's dry then move to heatlamp? Or wait until a few more hatch? What is the best food for their first ever meal? Thanks!
I have 23 black sex link hens that just started laying. They were born may 1st. I am finding a lot of double yolks...is that normal? I'm certainly not complaining! Just more curious than anything. They sure are nice hens!
Really neat pictures! So, would I just take whatever eggs I find in the coup? I am really excited to try this now! My rooster is gorgeous! I don't remember what breed he is, nor my hens...if I post pictures maybe some of you experienced owners can tell me. The hens were black as chicks, sold as...
Thank you for some answers! I knew they layed eggs, I just didn't know for sure how long it takes for the chick to hatch. So, during the egg candling, what would I be looking for to say one egg is better than the other kinda thing? Also, how long is an egg good for if its not sat on? Viability...
I have a million questions! How do all the eggs from one hen hatch on the same day when she obviously didn't lay them on the same day? How do you know which eggs to use for the incubator? what is their gestational period? Ok, there is a start! Thank you fellow chicken lovers!
