Hey all, I've incubated ducks and chickens before, but never anything like this. I figured I'd hatch a dinosaur while they were still in season. Do you guys have any advice on what works best incubating emus? Any insight is greatly appreciated!
I live in a residential area and recently my hens have become quite a cacophonous little bunch. The two I like most seem to be the loudest and the ones that incite the riot. I've tried to pin down exactly what causes it, and it can be anything....or nothing at all. I've had the hens in question...
I recently moved my girls from a huge country lot to a 200 square foot run in town. Since the move, egglaying has been less than 25% of what it normally is. I have 4 altogether, and get maybe an egg a day. Could the stress be contributing? Or perhaps their age? The oldest just recently turned...
That's exactly what I did, but eventually I had to put the little squirt down so I could go to sleep...he cried all night to be picked up again. He did make it through and I caught a glimpse of him pecking at his food before I left for work. I also added some sugar to their water and dipped...
I went to pick up my two baby BR's today. One little guy is very spunky and alert, while the other is more sedate.
He's lying down sternal and will stand when i pick him up. He's just hardly moving around when he's left alone. Their brooder is nice and warm, about 90 in the warm end. Is there...
Finally put in my order for a few Midget Whites! Was curious what to expect personality wise? As for size....i know what the websites say, but what is your actual experience? What has been your overall experience with them?
Hello,
I have 6 chickens that have free run of about 1/4 of a fenced acre.
At the end of April, i'm expecting some Midget Whites from Mcmurray. I'm not a fan of closing my flocks in, i prefer to let them have free run of the place. Lots of space= lots of exercise and lots of things to do...
I definitely agree, ive stopped trying to hold them. I just sit by and have offered them lettuce and other treats. They actively indulge when im not around, but are still too shy to eat when im with them. Ill keep working with them....theyll come around
Cherries....i think we have some....ill chop some up and see what happens...ill just keep working with them....i do have one other question for you seasoned turkey owners. These guys are much more agile than the chicks....i had to trim their primaries so they would stay in the brooder. When do...
Hello, while ive used this forum for reference before, ive never actually posted. Hello to the byc community! Ive got about 13 of the most awesome chickens, but this is my first run with turkeys. I picked up two Narragansett Poults on Friday. They are almost fully feathered, but still very...
