Not sure if you got a response. If you are located in Milpitas its better to join SVCHICKENS Yahoo group. There you will find local chicken keepers. Some are in Milpitas.
Went to my local feed store and all they had was aviary grit. I was told by one of the workers who is raising 200 chicks that aviary grit is okay to feed 6 week old chicks. Anyone ever use aviary grit for chickens?
Ok thank you. I am just a worry wort. Trying to avert before it happens, but sometimes may cause another problem. I will wait to deworm them. Maybe next fall if needed.
Thanks. I found a local feed who has a supplier in central California called Modesto Milling. They are producers of organic feed. This will save on the shipping charge. They will special order and will arrive along with normal weekly delivery.
Awwww! Monkey is a beautiful bird. Love the different shades of color on her feathers.
Ya! I noticed the garage is more dusty now. It will be nice when they finally move out to their new coop waiting outside. I like how you have a perch for the chicks in the pen. My chicks are really starting...
That is scary. Good thing your chicks were a little older. Otherwise, they would have been tasty morsels.
I watched several videos on YouTube of chickens the day after an attack and its so heartbreaking. I have an extra wired pen I can use to cover them while they are outside. Will need to put...
We actually thought about starting out with 3. Then my mom who use to raise chickens when I was a kid mentioned I should triple the number due to mortality rate and the possibility some may be roosters. Chickens are social animals. I was concerned they would be lonely with just a few. I watch...
Hi I am in the South Bay! Fremont area.
Yes Scott's Valley Feed is a good place for chicken needs. Everyone I have spoken to by phone or in person are knowledgeable about chickens. Going there this weekend for more feed and mealworms! I have 40 chicks now...black/white silkies, buff orpingtons...
Totally new to raising chickens. I ordered my first flock from Belt Hatchery because they are closest to Northern California. I wanted a reasonable amount of available breed selection so I decided to buy from a hatchery. My chicks were mailed Wednesday, 10/17/2012. I picked them up at the Post...
Hello Cheryl in Milpitas! You still raising chickens? If so, how many are allowed in the city. I was reading the ordinance and it says "no more than 20 birds". That right?
