I breed LGDs, and I can honestly say that any dog with sight issues is not suited for work. It's our job to set our dogs up to succeed against predators, and hoping a blind dog can do the job of guarding other animals is wishful thinking at best. That dog is best suited for a pet home OR a home...
By 10 AM usually here. I think it is related to when they get their Sun light infusion in the AM? It's a little later here in the shadow of a mountain :) Do you feed in the afternoon? I used to have some gals who would hold their eggs hostage until I fed :D
Hello beautiful Chicken Peeps! I've been gone for a while, but I did want to check in :) We've had calves born, brought in new goats, culled the chickens down to 2 laying hens right now :O And now we're gearing up for a chicken reboot :) I also imported a pair of new LGDs from Europe! How are...
Well lucky for me, I got my login sorted on my other account, eh? I've been on this forum a long time in reality, and there is no call for rudeness. I will buy #1 and #2 from Debs55.
We bought a 4' tall approx 300 ft long roll of 1x2 hardware cloth at ACE Hardware because they offer a military discount. Was for rabbit cages, but now it will be used for the birds. I wish we had a TSC in Missoula...
Nice!! My bull just turned 5. He's still got a good amount of growing to do, but he's changed a LOT in the last 3 years! He is very respectful. I clap my hands and hold them up like horns and he moves out of my way. Two of my girls are quite tame, the other five are works in progress at...
So we got a new hen, 4 new Scovies and 3 Runners.
All 3 Runners (front) are supposed to be Drakes... I'm not sure on ONE.
I got an adorable new decorative hen, so I thought she should meet "Minnie" the new uber-friendly hen :)
Oh yeah! It's a camper shell from my husband's FIRST truck when he was 16... Why does he still have it in his possession at 35? I have no idea. But It's a great roof for a coop :) We built that coop on a huge pallet, too- so it's movable if I ever want to relocate it.
We got a few new birds...
Yay! We're starting to get eggs again :) I didn't use lights this year, and I stacked my hay in a bad place- so it blocked the sun from reaching the coop this winter. Oops! Looking forward to more and more eggs!
Here are the two without close-ups in the previous pics:
Daenerys, rescue yak from East of the Divide, she's slowly coming around to us :)
Bullet, turning 5 next month. He'd have a fuller skirt if I didn't have the pond for them to stand in- breaks the guard hairs, but keeps them cool in the...
Do they look like my duck in the middle/bottom of the pic, next to my roo? She's a blue fawn, has a brownish head and blue body with brown lacing almost :)
Some pics from 3/17
Chicks/Keets are doing well :)
Hoping Dany calves soon...
Then Bullet will be a proud Daddy again.
It was pretty outside!
So I went to work.
Birds got to sample the new bag of scratch,
And cleaned out the coop, complete with herbs and baking soda :)...
