Ha! I wonder too at RECORD sizes. I have a hen here, that was hatched from a pair that were hatched from the same egg! SERIOUSLY! My neighbor did it! A double yolker! a boy and girl, (Oliver and Lisa) IN-Separable!! She tried hatching Lisa's eggs but only one made it. This thing is so little, We...
Yes, that's best when they are sick, keeps em from spreading whatever it is around too! I'm not sure, but I think the bantams are friendlier by nature. I have mostly bantams with only 4 full size chickens and one rooster.
Awww, well I'm glad she's okay....
My chicks get spoiled when they are inside, so it usually makes them friendlier, we keep em warm,
and hold and pet and on them, and give them yummy things... and pray for them too!! It probably helps that I have two boys to help love em up!!
This one got...
Oh I'm sorry, I Know NOTHING about other diseases really. Did she survive? I kept this one in with me a few days after I gave the dog wormer (ultraguard plus) and she was as sassy as could be. I put her back out with her sisters and I honestly can't tell them apart now myself, but my son can...
Well if anyone else can benefit from our success... all the better! One ml of ultraguard plus per lb of chicken!! Fed her yogurt and applesauce and some DE with a little mash while i kept her indoors and resting.....plus Prayer! Worked for us!!
Well, I'm very to report, she is back to normal, Sassy as ever!! LOL! I still have her indoors for the moment, maybe another day or so... but she seemed horrible yesterday morning, making awful gurgling sounds... and a couple hours later, ravished and eating everything she could get her beak...
Oh Thank you, you're very kind. I can look, but I do think I've read all of the posts with the word gapeworm in them!! I read for two days and my eyeballs are crossed! I finally decided to give her the Ultraguard plus dog wormer, @ 1 tsp per 5 lb, (which is 1ml per lb and we weighed her at 1lb...
I have read and read and read... but still not sure what to DO... She isn't really eating or drinking... 1 lb 5 mo old bantam... over a day now... some strange noises and open mouth gasps. We can't "see" anything in her throat. I have a tiny bit of ultra guard plus here. (pyrantel pamoate) will...
Is it just me? Why do all these threads seem to end cold? no resolution... I feel like I'm only getting "page 1 of 5" or something! I'm having similar trouble with a similar little hen, and each thread I've thought looked promising has dead-ended on me... Am I seeing this wrong?
They're about 3 months old. there were 10 plus Mom in a 3 x 4' dog cage... There didn't seem to be any "symptoms" prior... They had just been fed, watered and "checked on" a short time prior. Yesterday they were fine and 1/2 hr later it was gone.... <3 breaking!
I know from experience that a bantam can sometimes freeze up and seem comatose (dead) after being attacked by other chickens, on two occasions, but then "woke-up" and was fine shortly after I picked him up and coddled him... but I have had several young chicks die mysteriously on me lately...
