    Any suggestions for roosts?

Having a wider surface to allow more sability and toe coverage makes a lot of sense. We do have some fallen trees in the area and maybe those will provide branches that are wide enough. If not I will definitely go with a 2X3 or 2X4 as you suggested. Thank you again for all of your help!

    Any suggestions for roosts?

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm relieved that we don't have to take any windows out! That will save us a lot of time! We have been having a problem with them sleeping in the boxes and crushing the eggs they produce, so we will be definitely lowering the nests and raising the roosts. And...

    Any suggestions for roosts?

Here is a picture of our current set-up: As you can see, we have a roost right in front of the nesting boxes. We also have roosts running along the windows on the other 3 sides of the coop. We are planning on removing some windows from the coop because we think it makes our chickens feel too...

    Minnesota!

Hello there my fellow Minnesotans! I am very excited because one of my favorite hens Lyla has gone broody and I'm hoping to find some fertilized eggs to put under her. BUT I have no idea where I should get fertilized eggs! I don't want to blow a bunch of money on shipping and have no babies...

That's what I was worried about with ordering eggs and having them shipped, especially since I only want 3 or 4 eggs. Thank you very much for the advice!

How does one get fertilized eggs? (I'm in Minnesota)

So my sweet girl Lyla (buff orpington) has gone broody. At first I was worried because I have never seen this behavior before. These are my first chickens and I have only had them about a year. So I jumped on this site and my fears were replaced with excitement! I really want to get a few...

    Minnesota!

Hi Angie, Thanks for replying! I am very new to the world of chickens so I have never heard of the "Hendersons Breed Chart" but I will definitely take a look at it. Since I do live in Minnesota I definitely need cold hardy breeds. My dad and I aren't going to be making our little hobby into a...

Hello everyone, it's me again! I don't really know where in the forums is a good place to ask questions, so I figured I might as well ask people who are from Minnesota as well. (If here isn't the right place then please tell me! haha) I'm looking for information because my family and I are...

    New Gal from Minnesota

My family just moved to the area a couple of years ago so we are still getting to know people in the community. But my mom says she knows she has passed by Kelley Farms before.

    Minnesota!

Hey fellow Minnesotans! I'm doing some research on what type of birds will be able to stand the extremes of our climate. I have a few breeds of chickens in mind that I may want to own, but I was wondering if anyone owns quail. Do they handle the summers and winters well in Minnesota? Do they get...

    New Gal from Minnesota

Hey everyone! My name is Miranda and I'm from the beautiful land of over 10,000 lakes. I'm here to gather as much information as I can before spring so my father and I can make sure we can take care of a flock of chickens. My family has never owned chickens before, so we have a lot to learn...
