I am currently trying the peanut butter with baking soda rat poison. I have set it out for 3 nights and all the bait has been taken each time. I don't know how long it is supposed to take to kill a rat, but I will keep it up for a week to see how it goes.
I know this is an old thread, but if anyone in Ontario is looking for egg cartons I recommend Wellington Wood Products http://wwp.on.ca in Mt Forest. They come 150 in a sleeve and are about 1/2 the price of retail.
Hope some one here can help me out. Where I live in Ontario, Canada, it is about a 4 hour trip to get to the store that sells egg washing detergent. Because of the weight of the product, it is cheaper to drive there than have it shipped. However, my wife and I are planning a trip to Florida...
I know there is the ongoing debate of washing or not washing your eggs that you sell and I do not wish to get into that here.
If, like me, you do hand wash your eggs, I have discovered a time saving tip I'd like to pass on.
I recently purchased a very inexpensive pair (less than $4 at...
I have been using this egg washing detergent for 3 years now. I have 45 laying hens and a good customer base for my egg gate sales. A teaspoon of this egg washing detergent in a sink of warm/hot water and a regular scrubby cleans my 40 something eggs everyday. A good rinse and the eggs dry to...
Thank you both for the reply, and the link to the dove web site. That is the first written reference I have seen about soft beak.
I suspected that it might be a deficiency in calcium or some other vitamin and that's what made it perplexing. In both cases, it has only been one bird in the...
My wife and I have kept doves for our magic act on and off for almost 30 years. Over that time, there have been 2 doves develop what we call "curly" or "crooked" beak.
The beak goes quite soft for a week of so. Then, the beak deforms with the tips of the upper and lower beak crossing over...
I don't have pictures, but I just completed a covered outside run that measures 8' x 16' by 6' tall.
I built it by making a number of 2" x 4" frames measuring 4' wide (the width of my 1" square welded wire roll) by 6' tall with a cross piece of 2" x 4" running at the 3' level. The frames...
Hi Mickey,
Thanks for that information. From what I've read, PDZ would be my first choice too.
However, I've also read that PDZ and Stall Dry may do the same type of job, but that they are made of different materials, and that is my concern.
I'm just trying to determine if the Stall Dry...
Hello,
This is my first post, but I have often used the forums as a reference for looking after our chickens. My wife and I got our first 3 hens in May of this year and have been housing them in a small coop with an enclosed run.
I am currently building a new larger coop and enclosed run for...
