    Hen attacking other hen

Hi there, Cosmo is the queen of my chicken coop, but she has taken to attacking Cheeko chicken in particular to the point I am worried she will kill her. Cheeko is an older girl and has trouble walking, so when Cosmo comes to attack her, it doesn't help that Cheeko cant get out of the way. When...

    Recumbent chickens

Thank you for your responses! Im sorry if i didn't make this clearer, but i'm fairly certain Cheeko is not laying simply because of old age. Her sister who is the same age has stopped laying as well and she is a very healthy bird. Im not denying something is wrong, i'm just trying to provide...

    Recumbent chickens

Hello chicken community, A couple months ago I posted a forum regarding one of my chickens being very lazy around the yard. What I thought had gone away has returned, and I am again concerned that something is very wrong with my hen. Cheeko is showing symptoms of being recumbent. She will stand...

    lethargic chicken

I need help diagnosing my chicken! Cheeko chicken is about 5 years old and has suddenly become lethargic. During the day she doesn't walk around much, and prefers to lay down which is quite unlike her. She still is still walking, just not as active, and at night she still flys up to her perch...

Chicken's feather shafts not coming in right??

Hey BYC, One of my hens is almost finished with her pre-winter molting. However it appears like something is wrong with her tail feathers. Instead of the shafts breaking and the feathers coming out, the shafts have not broken and have been 5 inch long porcupine quills for about 2 weeks, without...

    Foxes!!

Ok... Let me start off by saying that I am plenty well aware that I am responsible for my hens. I am their care taker and It is my responsibility to do what is right for them so they live a happy life. So once the attacks started happening, I kept my girls in their pen, instead of free ranging...

    Foxes!!

Im not interested in killing the fox, after all he is just doing what he needs to do. Trapping and relocating seems like the best option. Thanks!

    Foxes!!

I have been having some fox attacks on my hens pretty frequently. Is there any good way to keep them from getting my girls or to keep them out of the yard, period? (besides not letting them free range) Thanks Autumn

Questions on my Rooster and his spurs

You should also do some research before filing them. There are some "how to" sights out there that show safe and pain free removal for the roo.

Questions on my Rooster and his spurs

You shouldn't need to remove the spurs. If you are really concerned I suppose you could file them down.

My chicken is growing another toe?

I looked up bumblefoot and it could be that, although its not so severe on the underside. I will try and get the dirt out.

My chicken is growing another toe?

Well, at least thats what it looks like. My barred rock has had a lump growing on each toe for the past year or so, and it has progressively gotten bigger. It is covered in scales like the rest of the foot and is hard so i know its not filled with puss or anything like a wort. On the underside...

How To Get Rid Of A Rooster?

gg706 I know I am coming into this incredibly late and its probably not even relevant anymore but NO! Thats cruel, do not just leave your rooster outside. Yes that is harsh!! Its abusive and If you have the idea to do this you are obviously not caring for your animals properly.
