Perseverance has paid off! Both my girls are back on their feet! The older one was so far gone I didn't think she would make it, but I fed her 2 hourly by eye dropper and this morning, almost 5 days later, she was standing up in her box and even had a little bit to eat...happy, happy, happy...
They called it CCC, whatever it is, it has done the trick for my youngest one, she is drinking and eating again, but I fear the worse for my older girl, she is still very poor and I don't know what else to do for her :(
UPDATE...I managed to find a produce store open. The owner was extremely helpful. I have some new medicine, and I actually think they are both looking ever so slightly better. Hoping the morning will bring some improvement. Thanks again for the advice :)
Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately as it was Christmas day nothing was open, I managed to get some powdered antibiotic which I have been giving them through dropper. I am going to try and get some corid (or the Australian equivalent) today. They are no worse but also no better. The...

Warm, wet conditions and new birds brought in not long ago are all prime factors for coccidiosis. Since it can be a fast killer I'd treat for that first and right away.
Thanks everyone. Poops are very runny. We had a lot of rain recently, followed by horrendously humid days (in Australia). I empty their food everyday, but mould is a possibility with the weather. One of my ladies is around 4 years old, the other we got around 6 weeks ago. I thought the 2 new...

Please someone help! One of my older girls started, won't move, eyes closed all the time, won't eat or drink, can't keep her head up. Now my other two are the same this morning. They are free range, and always have been, nothing has changed. I did feed them some grapes the other day which I...
Hi, I have scoured the previous threads and although found info regarding floppy combs, none seem to fit my chicken.
My little girl has a floppy comb, and missing feathers around the base of the comb. It also appears to have feint whitish spots on her comb. She is eating, I haven't had a...
For those who know a little about Australia, yes we have snakes here, thought I might share a visitor we had here one night when my ladies decided to stay out of their pen, luckily I rescued them in time!! Although it was harmless, a carpet python, it was huge! Around 7-8 foot long, and was in...
Thank you everyone for your warm welcomes and wonderful advice. I unfortuantely have bad news though. What we thought were our dogs stealing eggs in the past has now turned out to be a very fat, large rat, which while my beautiful Whisky had finally left her nest to eat, swooped in and snatched...
I have a Plymouth Rock who is sitting on eggs, only 1 week in, she has bad mites/scaly leg, can I treat her while she is nesting? If so what is the best treatment? Is there an internal medicine available?
Good Morning, firstly please let me say I LOVE your page, and get great joy out of your photos and posts. Now on another note, I need your help. My Plymouth Rock is broody and we have put some fertilised eggs under her. She has been on the eggs for almost 1 week. The problem is she doesn't...
