Hi everyone,
A friend just sent me some pics over whatsapp. She told me her neighbour donates to a charity that saves chickens from the industry and she received these pics of her "adoption chicken". She showed them to my friend and she's having a hard time believing that
A. These are all pics...
One of my roosters is getting old and likes to spend his days taking dust baths and sitting on the same old tree branch the whole damn day. One of his ladies, the smallest but feistiest, decided that if he's not going to do the job she will. So she's taking care of things now. Including, well...
So I noticed no one talks about Amrocks on this messageboard. On Dutch websites one can read Amrocks are the sturdier version of the Plymouth Rock which are more of a show bird. Both are American breeds according to the information. So it's surprising me no American here seems to own them...
I have a hen like that. She has 4 chicks right now because I figured she would kill herself sitting on an empty nest forever if I didn't get her eggs. Nothing else worked.
I think he scared her the other day and she needs a little time to regain trust. It will be alright. Don't force things. A chicken doesn't have to be mean to attack in my opinion. Wrong place, wrong time, wrong flip flops.
Cross breed but pretty sure one of the parents is a Lakenvelder. I have rooster that's a cross of a Lakenvelder mom and wyandotte dad and he looks pretty much the same.
I think it's tricky to compare two chicks of completely different breeds. I had marans and faverolles last year hatching at the same day and they were similar in size. The faverolles developed much faster but in the end the marans were the biggest birds. And I once had a chick that coughed and...
Should have asked to see the new rooster. But this guy always has amazing birds so I didn't. My black copper marans hatched from his eggs are the best too.
