Hi I have a brin sea mini advance incubator and its fantastic. It only holds 7 eggs but everything is automatic and we have had 6 or 7 hatch out of every batch we have incubated. Well worth the money (:
Hi there. I keep my ducks and chooks together. They all free range during the day but are in at night. The drakes stay with their girls and the roosters stay with their girls. I've never had any trouble with this set up they all get along fine.
I couldn't find any apple cider vinegar with the mother to start it off so I used some bakers yeast to get it started. I have a 3 bucket system and just top the old water up after each feed. I've now got some acv so I add a bit of that every now and then. I used to waste so much feed, they would...
Hi everyone. Thanks pinky for the eggs Facebook group. Can anyone help me figure out how to tag someone's comment so that I can reply to it I'm new to this and cant work out how to do it.
Is anyone using ff with their chooks? I started about six weeks ago and I am LOVING the results. Would love...
Thanks everyone for the welcomes. Luke where did you get your anconas from? I started a flock in April this year hatching eggs bought from qld and wa with mixed success but I now have 9 anconas. It took a lot of Internet searching to find anconas and no one in our area has them. It's so...
I recently had the same problem with my shipped eggs but they all hatched with no assistance from me and are happy healthy 5 week old chicks now. Just gave me a lot of stressed out hours staring at the incubator (;
Hi everyone I'm new to this thread but I wanted to share this photo of my beautiful x bred hen Sophie. She is seven years old and was still laying 5 or 6 eggs a week before she went broody. She is my Proof that the free range lifestyle produces happy long lasting hens. It's so funny this is the...
They turned out fantastic all hatched with no problems. The air sack was still a really strange shape right up until hatching but the chicks are all healthy. I'm still not sure what caused it but alls well that ends well. Good luck with yours.
Hi I have an 8 week old rir x chick that has become really lethargic the last couple of day. It's puffed up its feathers and keeps its head tucked in. This chick is fed darling downs chicken mix and free ranges over 20 acres all day and is locked up at night. Today it has started to poo yellow...
Thanks for your reply. Cydectin is the same as ivermectin just a different brand.The poultry dusting I've been using has worked really well it was just a bugger to buy cydectin which is expensive and then still have to dust anyway. My flock free ranges and we have heaps of wild birds about so I...
Hi can anyone help me with the use of cydectin pour on with chooks. I've done all my chooks 3 or 4 drops on the back of the neck but I'm still finding lice on some of my chooks so I'm still having to dust them. Does anyone have any experience with this product or any advice? Thanks in advance.
My hens still chest bump with the cockerels all the time. In fact the worst fight we have had between all out chooks was started by a bantam pullet who decided to chest bump a cockerel 4 times her size lol.I understand your frustration l go out everyday and sit down with a coffee trying to sex...
Thanks for your reply. I'm just so confused all of the eggs are completely developing on one side so when u look at the eggs candled side on one half of the egg is completely empty and the other side is developing. It can't be a turning issue though because my bator and hen can't be making the...
I bought a dozen ancona eggs which I received through the post. I've just candled them on day 8 and they are all fertile but are only developed on one side. 7 eggs are in a brinsea mini advance incubator which is turning the eggs automatically and has always worked brilliantly and the other 4...
